Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage, born January 7, 1964, is one of the most prolific and popular actors in Hollywood. Born Nicolas Kim Coppola, he is a best actor Oscar-winner for “Leaving Las Vegas” and is the nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola and cousin of director Sofia Coppola. After a small part in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and a starring role in the comedy “Valley Girl,” Cage appeared in two films for his uncle: “Rumblefish” in 1983 and the next year in “Cotton Club.” He gained further attention in the 1980s with romantic roles in “Peggy Sue Got Married” and “Moonstruck,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. In the Coen brothers’ “Raising Arizona,” he continued to show his comedy skill and later appeared in romantic comedies including “It Could Happen to You” and “Honeymoon in Vegas.” In David Lynch’s 1990 “Wild at Heart,” he starred as the outlaw Sailor Ripley. Cage was also Oscar-nominated for “Adaptation,” in which he played twins. After conquering comedy and romance, Cage moved into action roles such as “The Rock,” “Con Air” and “Gone in 60 Seconds.” Since 2004, he has starred in franchises including the “National Treasure” films and the “Ghost Rider” series. His dramatic roles include “Pig,” “City of Angels,” “Bringing Out the Dead” and “Dream Scenario.” He made his directing debut with “Sonny” in 2002.
