The 198-year-old tradition in Savannah took Thursday for the first time since 2019.

The St. Patrick's Day parade started at 10:15 a.m., starting at the corner of Gwinnett and Abercorn streets, continuing to Broughton, then East Broad Street, Bay Street, Bull Street and ends at the intersection of Harris Street.

You can watch the parade in the video player below.

Some people traveled thousands of miles to experience the parade. Amy Spilsbury and her daughter came from South Africa, and Nicole Baker brought her daughter from Canada. Spilsbury said this is her daughter's first St. Patrick's Day, and she is happy she spent it in Savannah. “I feel like this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Spilsbury said.

Alanzo Boschulte said he has lived in Savannah for 12 years, but this is his first time attending the parade. “It seemed like it would be difficult to get down here, and it was a little challenging, but we managed, and I managed with these guys now, so I should have done it sooner," he said.

Boschulte said he brought his family for the fun.

And Rebecca Holcombe and Jennifer Kirby said they have attended dozens of Savannah's St. Patrick's Day parades, and they are excited to be back after two years of cancellations. “It’s very freeing," Holcombe said. "It’s so nice to see so many people out right now enjoying themselves."
