Contemporary marbled boards, gilt fillets and calf lettering piece to spine. Light rubbing to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, corners bumped and somewhat worn, edges rouged. Title page printed in red and black. Moderate toning to interior, somewhat heavier in places, light foxing to title page, later owner signature (Pannier) to front free endpaper. A handsome copy of a scarce title. $750. * Fourth and final edition. A practical treatise on the canon and Holy-Roman laws governing marriage and divorce and, to some extent, children. It devotes a good deal of attention to reasons for divorce, with an emphasis on adultery. Apparently a well-received work, it was first printed in 1733, with second and third editions in 1738 and 1741. All editions are scarce.
