Condition: new. Pages: 115 Language: Estonian. Raamatu "Eduard Wiiralt. Piibliillustratsioonid" kaante vahele on koondatud 73 suure eesti graafiku (1898-1954) joonistust teoloogi ja filosoofi Eduard Tennmanni (1878-1936) usuõpetuse lugemiku neljale osale, mis ilmusid kirjastus "Looduse" väljaandes Tartus 1924-25.aastal. Joonistused asuvad Eesti Kirjandusmuuseumis, Eesti Kultuuriloolises Arhiivis. Osa neist on vahepealsetel aastatel publitseeritud Wiiralti loomingule pühendatud väljaannetes, kuid erilist huvi pakuvad nad tervikliku ansamblina, mis on piibliainelises eesti kunstis unikaalne. Vaid üksikjuhtumil võib nende puhul kõnelda otsesest eeskujust (J.Schnorr von Carolsfeldi "Piibli piltidest"), üldiselt paelub kunstniku interpretatsioon isikupärasusega, nagu stiilgi. Tema stiil ning joonistuslaad muutusid mõnevõrra illustreerimise käigus aastail 1923-25, ent käesolevas raamatus on pildid järjestatud siiski vastavalt Vana ja Uue Testamendi sündmustele. Piiblilugude illustreerimine inspireeris kunstnikku looma ka vabagraafilisi estampe neil teemadel, millest on raamatus mõned näited. 9789949573141.

Exhibition introduced only a part of artist's extensive production, which form a unique collection of Estonian museum's holdings. Displayed objects included drawings and prints made using different printing methods - woodcuts, linocuts, copper engravings, lithographies, monotypes, etchings, aquatints - all of them artist masterfully used. Most popular of exhibited works were surrealist genre "Hell", "Cabaret", "Preacher", Heads of Negroes and many others. The exhibition also focused on Wiiralt's book graphics - illustrations and ex-librises. Artist illustrated a number of books of Estonian authors, also Pushkin's "Gabrieliad" published on French. Critics exhibition review was highly positive, they really liked his mastering of techniques, the diversity of his talent and his very personal approach to the world. The exhibition catalogue includes two introduction articles about Wiiralt creation by Rudolf Paris and biographical overview by A. Veitman, followed by list of exhibits and 31 full-paged artworks reproductions. Edition is decorated with artist's amazing graphical vignettes. Eduard Wiiralt (1898 1954) is the most famous and appreciated Estonian graphic artist. He entered an art school in Tallinn in and then moved on to the Pallas art school in Tartu. Receiving a year's grant to study in Paris 1925, he remained there for most of his life. Taking part in international exhibitions since 1930, he displayed his work in Paris, Strasbourg, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Vienna, Tallinn, Tartu, Helsinki and elsewhere. He became famous in Estonia thanks to a retrospective held in Tallinn in 1936 and Helsinki in 1937.
