About this Item
IZ (Workers Illustrated Magazine) was published from 1929 to 1934. It began in Germany but because of its opposition to the Nazi party it moved to Prague in 1933. The objective was to provide news and images from the working class perspective. It was anti- fascist and pro communist. Its most famous contributor was John Heartfield. His photo montages are iconic. This issue does not contain a Heartfield montage. This issue is entitled Race? Class! and it does contain a full page photograph by Heartfield. It also contains an article on the Scottsboro Boys. Issue is fragile and in good condition. Some flaking and chipping along toning edges. Piece missing from photo by Heartfield - see photo. Still an uncommon issue. Seller Inventory # 002427
