Show us your Krals!

Since the np03 seems to be a buzz right now, and I just converted one to a bullpup, I figured why not start a Kral gun pics thread.

Here is the aforementioned pup. Took a breaker and cut it down to size, used the tube and barrel from an NP03, dual hammer spring, biathlon lever, and the knight multi caliber bolt. Has the Troy Hammer power adjuster mod done as well, but all other ports are stock.

finished the action last week and finally got around to the stock this week. Just one coat of tru oil and it came out so dark I was worried it would be just brown if I did another. I took the quick way out and did 2 coats of poly brush on. Sanded it back with 400, and sprayed 3 layers of poly. It's a hunter so didn't care if it came out perfect, just needed something. Wish it was a bit lighter but it's cool, still better than the factory finish.

Running 4 mags at 26 fpe with polymags, can get 3 mags at 32 fpe but it got to be too much for the buck rail moderator and I don't need that much with this rig.

Just a hair over 27" long and 8.4 Oz with the bipod.

Anyways, let's see everyone else's Kral guns! I'm obviously a fan!

Thinking we have enough rain ... Dang !!!

Last 24 hours a tad over 6" of rain, near 3.4" sense midnight and it now just past 8 am .... 17.8" for the month and it's still raining HARD !
Septic system is full of water, so no toilets, showers or water down the drains until rains stop and water table recedes somewhat.
All the snow ( Or most ) in the Sierra Nevada mountains under 8000' is getting rained on making it a slop fest !!! ... It likely will just freeze into glacial type ice once it becomes winter time cold again once this system passes threw.
Fresh powder snow on Ice makes for a Very dangerous Avalanche season ... Skiers & back country travelers beware.

First go in PCP land

After a little tuning, tinkering, and zeroing, my first official PCP session went pretty well. These things are amazing! The splatter burst was at 50 yards. 5 shot groups on the corners with 10 shot groups center diamond. 8” gong at 102 yards, (3) 5 shot groups. Crown MK2 .22, 380 barrel. JSB 18.13’s at 895 fps.

Well that didnt take long

Just "finished" up my crosman 2240 bottle gun build and got it sighted in at 40 yards with the field target trophy 13.66 in 5.53HS. Left it in the garage hoping this damn squirrel who I keep seeing in my chicken pen would show up. This is the 3rd this week I've got in there. Once they know where to go I think the others just follow the trail.

It finally popped out of the pen and made it over to the walnuts at the backstop I put out when I seen her this morning.

Waited til she grabbed a nut and settled in on top of the oak log I have there for them to, well, sit on and get shot.

She was facing directly toward me chomping on the nut. Sent one down range, right above the left eye.

I guess 13 fpe is plenty at 40 yards lol.

20221231_140424.jpg

This is the 4th squirrel I've shot recently with no pass thru and they all were DRT. That energy dump really does make a difference. Oddly, all 4 of these squirrels were also females.

Just the (orange) tip

My new setup looks pretty intimidating so I'm considering throwing an orange cover on my supressor so at a glance it doesn't look like a real sniper rifle.

Screenshot_20221231_132456.jpg

I live in a 2a state so don't want any misunderstandings when out on trails and such.

Are there any implications to doing or not doing this and does anyone else use orange tips on their airguns?

AEAC - FX Impact M3 Tuning Guide (interesting pre-video learning shared here)

I've begun probing the FX Impact M3 for learning nuggets out ahead of my upcoming YouTube M3 tuning guides. The learning I discover, I'll share here as I go, as a resource for new tuners seeking information on how to tune the M3. Experienced tuners, please feel free to chime in and share your victories too. Tuning is as much an art as it is a science. There are many good tuners out there and many good ways to go about it.

Right out of the gate, I sought an easier approach to tuning the M3. One which would streamline my time in the chair and reduce pellet consumption along the way. My previously published YouTube tuning guides on the Maverick, Dreamline, Crown Continuum, Avenger, Avenger Pup, Redwolf, and Atomic taught me that perfect tune searching can be taxing on both the soul & pocketbook, so coming up with an "easier way" for this new guide has been a priority. Side note: Going forward, AEAC Tuning Guides will be published on the main channel, AEAC Home, and no longer on AEAC Vlog.

Right out of the gate, I ran a baseline chart for the M3 Compact (300cc bottle & 500mm liner) to see how Sweden had set it up. The takeaways for me are that Sweden likes a 90 bar reg for good all-around power & efficiency with an 18gr out of this configuration. That's important to note as we go forward and explore the lower limits of the aft reg on the M3, and lighter ammo. From the below, it's also clear that they like the gun set up with the Power Adjuster (PA) on 16, presumably because this is what the majority of their customers want. Personally, I've always sought to tune the FX's to more of a "middle point" on the wheel. Below is my M3's baseline run as it came out of the box.

image001.png

20221130_105825.jpg

After running a base line, I was curious about the relationship between the PA wheel and the QTS micro adjuster, as well as how low I could get reg 2 to run reliably. So, I came up with the below. It's a simple 80 shot evaluation of the above described and to my surprise, it revealed an interesting anomaly. If you'd like to run the test on your M3, simply take 5 shots at each PA setting (16 down to 1) while keeping the QTS reset to #3 with each new PA setting. Keep the Valve Adjuster (VA) on max-open for the run. It's also good when exploring the lower limits of a reg to keep your bottle pressure in a reasonable window like 225-150 bar or so. I've found that sometimes, regs get goofy near their lower limits (although not with this one) and can produce unreliable results when the pressure on them is at the two extremes. It's also good when running low reg pressure to allow the system a few seconds to take a breath in between shots. I like 5-10 seconds. Once done with your test, enhance your chart's magnification to around 50 fps total, so that you can see what's going on. Here's what I got:

image003.png

20221212_120216.jpg

The above test (I'm calling the Power Adjuster Flat Spot Search Tool) revealed an enhanced performance zone between the PA settings of 8-10 when running a 70 bar reg and while shooting a 16gr. Velocity clearly ran much tighter for me in this 15-shot zone. I posted the initial results here on AGN in another post (admittedly with overenthusiasm and without a full understanding) and ruffled some member-feathers. The outrage encouraged me to slow down, consult with Sweden about the find, and take a more in depth look at this phenomenon. Sweden had the below to say when I shared the above with them... it was a phone conversation, some of which I'll quote and some of which I'll paraphrase.

These test results are "intriguing & exciting," and that you may have "discovered a hack that could be quite useful in locating a mechanical sweet spot in a gun's overall system-mechanics... a sweet spot where PW & QTS interact with a bit less resistance, hence offer enhanced performance." Sweden theorized that by running this test, one could easily locate & identify this theoretical system sweet spot, and perhaps build upon its usefulness. For now, they are calling the data "undeniable." After the holiday vacation, Sweden will run my "flat spot search tool" test in an effort to better understand it. I'll catch up with them afterwards and share what comes of it.

Moving forward from the find, I decided to exploit my discovered 70 bar, 16gr flat zone anomaly and run an entire chart at that PA #9 sweet spot. I was rewarded with the below which for tracking purposes at this point, I'm calling Eco Tune 1. Bearing in mind that I had performed NO other searching around for ideal settings other than having run my initial flat spot search tool, I kinda had an oh sh*t moment and thought to myself. "Dang, that's a very decent usable shot chart... and this flat spot search tool test could be a useful method for others to simplify M3 tuning."

image005.png

Wanting to evolve Eco Tune 1 into something more field worthy, I slowly worked the Valve Adjuster in a 1/4 turn at a time, searching for further tightening of shot-to-shot velocity. This step trims any waste air, increases efficiency, and improves accuracy. As you do it, listen for the report to go from a "cough" to a "snick" or even a light "snick-ping." The change in sound means that you're "there" and probably in an improved area. The below Eco Tune 2 is what I took into the field with me last week to 50-yard film for the upcoming tuning guide... and the results were excellent, especially for a 16gr leaving at 850 fps and arriving 50 yards sway at 675-700 fps, in a 3-7 mph wind (multiple troll-strolls included) :). Note: the VA ultimately needed another 1/4 turn in to stabilize 50-yard accuracy, which super-validates the usefulness of this nifty device.

20221228_130645.jpg

Having validated the above methodology on film, I set out to retest my flat spot search tool again, but this time with an 80 bar reg instead of 70. The 80 bar test revealed yet another clearly visible 15-shot flat zone. Again, I exploited this enhanced performance zone to quickly & efficiently come up with another good tune for the M3. I'm calling this latest discovery, Eco Tune 3, and its numbers suggest some serious system-harmony.

20221231_120028.jpg

For me, this discovery and its apparent system-sweet-spot-hack has me quite encouraged. I'm very much enjoying the speed & simplicity of getting to the result, as well as field-validating the accuracy that came via the new approach. As soon as the rain clears, I'll fine tune Eco Tue 3 via the VA, then get back out there at 50 to film-validate it for the upcoming YouTube AEAC M3 tuning guides. Then, hop on the 18gr... then on to the max power extraction stuff.

As I come across these learning nuggets, I'll share them here on AGN and on AEAC Instagram, "hookedonair" first... out ahead of the video, so you guys don't have to wait.

Enjoy and happy tuning 😊
Steve

Altaros M2010 New PCP Airgun for 2023

On behalf of our company Altaros, I would like to wish you a happy and successful new year and take this opportunity to present a new PCP airgun model that we are working on.

The very basis of the rifle is similar to our M24 rifle, but there are a number of improvements.

In the base there is a more tunable trigger, which was already in the second series of the M24. There is also an adjustable picatinny rail for the riflescope, so you can adjust the tilt from 0 up to 20mRad and you don't need special mounting rings for riflescope.

The most important change is the stock, which is made of aluminum and provides the rifle with much greater rigidity, which is very beneficial in easier shooting with greater precision. The stock has a universal AR15 grip, so a variety of grips can be used, MDT is used here.
Folding stock for easier transport and fully adjustable ( cheek height, stock length and setting height of butt stock )

The second most important thing that you see in the video is the expansion of the rifle with a magazine that works for our ATP slugs (perhaps it will be expanded with variants for other slugs in time).

The combination of these factors makes this rifle a perfect candidate for training PRS or other disciplines, as well as a rifle for LR and ELR shooting. Thanks to very close handling and holding, the shooter can transfer these sights to bold action firearms.

Please write us your reaction how you like the rifle, because the more interests hire make the higher priority for us to deliver this M2010 rifle to the market as soon as possible, compared to our other projects.

A blue R9 and two Hw30s loaded in the truck to break in the new year.

Looking forward to spending New Year's eve and New Years day on the road to AR with my wife. It'll be a working vacation when I get there. Working on the house that is. I made sure to bring my 20 cal R9, my peep sighted Hw30 and Gwen's scoped Hw30. I may jockey guns around but the peep sighted Hw30 is a given. I never vacation without it.

All work and no play is no good. I'll be there for two weeks so I will make time for the "BB guns". I love them. They make me feel like a kid again. ESPECIALLY the peep sighted Hw30.

Have a Happy New Year everybody!
Ron

Ruger air hawk strikes again!

Went to my boss's house after work again and got me another female gray. Biggin too.
Got her with the ole trusty air hawk, about 40 yards. Snuck a crosman destroyer right behind the right shoulder. Heard the thump but thought I missed and hit the tree behind her.

Waited a couple seconds and seen her death kicking in the leaves, but not much movement. I've taken the last 4 squirrels with this same shot placement and 3 all were DRT. None were pass thru shots. The squirrel that ran was a full pass thru vital shot from my 50 fpe 25.

Really starting to dig lower power for these close backyard shots. Getting too old to be hopping fences to go get my tree rat.

Krale

Just an FYI for the unbelievable service and speed I just received from Krale. I ordered an HW 30 on Wednesday night New York time. 6:00 pm to be exact. Considering they were closed. ( midnight in the Netherlands)
I received the gun in 31 hours New York time. Unreal!!! The box was extremely well packaged and the gun is perfect….
Hats off to this company. I will DEFINITELY be buying again from them!!!

A tale of 3 Ghosts 👻

2 of my amigos and I purchased some BRK Ghosts 👻. They are all .25 HPs. Here is the tale of what transpired as tuning began…………..

They showed up from AoA packed beautifully well. All clean, pressure tested and ready for work. Triggers all had some second stage drag before let-off. All triggers broke at 1lb 6 ounces. I let each of these 3 jokers know that this wasn’t going to be an acceptable trigger behavior! This is when they introduced themselves. Black Max seemed to be the ring leader. Foghorn quickly let me know his trigger was just fine and he wasn’t happy to hear any lip from me about it! Spook jumped out at me, screamed boooo, following the scare with a big smile 😀. I wasted no time in taking each down and intricately submitted one by one. Black Max got the guillotine, Foghorn the Kimura and Spook the rear-naked choke! Once Alpha Dog 🐶 status was established, I got down to business!!

Black Max got a 4.5 ounce second stage break. Foghorn an 8 ounce and Spook a 4 ounce. None have any goofy sear drag and all triggers let-off crisply! An aftermarket first stage spring was utilized and I trimmed the rod-linkage springs so as to achieve the requested trigger pull weights.

I next completed my port/polish on the barrel’s transfer ports and blow-through probes. I then addressed the shroud frame clearance and gave all .016” spacing from the frame. I
Inspected all fastener while I was at it and all looked great. Barrels all got cleaned with Gunzilla.

The BRK Ghost is a very well made PCP. When getting under the hood, you know you’re in the presence of a well engineered piece of equipment.

Set all 3 Huma regs at 150 bar and tested over the chrony. All performed great. These crew of Ghosts were now ready to rock!!

Black Max got the call to the bench first. It’s very first 5 shots at 100 yards looked to be about an inch ctc. Foghorn followed with a good showing and similar accuracy. Spook shot steel at 100 first then paper and produced about the same 1” ctc 5-shot groups.

This was all done with the 33.95gr JSBs. All produce the same power at 150 bar ~ 960 fps on Max (19) and 925-930 on 10. The firing cycle is nice, clean and easy on 10. I found 925 to 940 to produce great accuracy. Filling to 250 bar produced 55 regulated shots at 925 fps with the 33.95gr JSBs. SD was 3.6 fps and ES was 13 fps.

Air Arms TX200 (Full Review ) .177 Spring Gun Perfection @ 1000+ FPS

22r.JPG

Hey guys. This classic Air Arms TX200 MKIII air rifle is no joke. It slings .177 caliber ammo at over 1000 FPS with dime size groups at 40 yards. Amazing spring gun. The fit and finish on this Walnut version is also outstanding. When you hear people say thier TX200 is one of thier most accurate guns, they are not lying! This gun is awesome. Thanks for watching! -Nate

Tungsten Hammer over 800mm barrel and power block?

I have a internally stock M3 (no slug power kit and no power block) only a nsa pin probe as the only hardware change. .25 cal 700mm barrel 40gr slugs at 940fps reg 150 and hammer maxed out. How much fps would just the tungsten hammer gain me? It seems like the cheapest upgrade of the 3 with the potential for the biggest gain. Also would it hurt me if I wanted to lower the power settings and shoot pellets if I wanted to?

I don’t want the added length of the 800mm barrel (700mm is the max I want for the hunting I do) and I don’t think the power block gives much of fps increase. Plus it’s more expensive and a more difficult install.

Scope Dialing - Only using turret stickers?

Hey all, so ive been watching a ton of videos, scanning these and other pages looking for info on HFT and FT in general. One thing Ive never seen mentioned is a zero stop on the scope. I shoot PRS and just had to get a scope with a zero stop as I would get lost of where my zero was and my adjustments I had made. It seems to me the easiest way would be to zero at 17 or whatever he lowest yardage your club shoots and lock it there. How else do you keep track of your zero?
Im not sure theres enough space for each yard sticker on a turret cap which may be ideal really.
Thoughts?

AMP Regulator is creepy..

Been looking at others saying that AMP reg is a creeper and have found fixes etc. But why? Is it a poor design or just not as finished as say a Huma or Altaros or Lane reg? I know these regulators can creep as well but it seems inherent to the AMP. Also I don't decrease reg pressure with air in it just raise it.
I plan to smooth it up and see if I can stop the creep.
This AMP is in a Dreamline btw..

Here is an update on my little compact to sniper m3 project

I've been posting problems I've been having with my gun since I bought it. Thanks to everybody that helped me I think I got everything all set it started off as a non-power block compact M3 in 22 cal with a 500 mm Barrel now it has the 800 mm tensioned
30cal Barrel with a power block. I think the only thing I have left to do is the tungsten Hammer weight and go to a heavier slug to achieve what I'm looking for right now it is shooting 47.2 grain Nielsen slugs at 970.3 ft per second which is 98 ft pounds of energy hopefully I can break into 130fpe with the 62gr slug and the tungsten Hammer weight. Here are some before and after pics!
I really want this thing set up to take down a 90 lb coyote that I have in my neighborhood that's taking out people's pets and I don't want it taking out my dog! So I'm trying to get this thing to be a one shot one kill slug Slinger!

Remember

I went to a dealer to buy a used car today. My son in law is a mechanic there, and had told me about a pretty good deal. The family discount made it an even better deal, so I bit.

You know how long it takes to go through the process at the car dealer. Seemed to take forever.

While I was waiting for them to finish detailing, a young lady waiting for her detailing asked me 'It looks like you're getting a new car, why don't look very happy?"

My reply was 'I'm 65 years old. I've had a whole lot of cars in my time. Some good, some bad. I am happy to have the new car, but I'd rather have spent this time shooting. Every shot is good, cause even when it's bad... you learn something'

Not going to party this New Years Eve, cause at 7 AM on Jan 1, I will be at the range clear eyed and bushy tailed (all you squirrel hunters Back Off!)
