Police: Hummer crashes into Grand Am on side of I-40

Amarillo police are investigating an accident that sent a rust-colored Hummer H2 careening off of westbound Interstate 40 and into a car that had been abandoned in heavy snow on the side of the road about 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon between Bell and Coulter streets.

The driver of the Hummer said he was driving next to a tractor-trailer that suddenly switched lanes and forced him off the road and onto the shoulder, where he crashed into a green Pontiac Grand Am that had been left in the snow earlier in the day.

No injuries were reported in the accident and no citations were issued, police said.
