Product Description

Product description

since 1982...it's the adult game favorite that lets you surprise yourself--and your friends--with your General Knowledge.

Amazon.com

It's become the high praise of the day: "I'd sure like to have her on my Trivial Pursuit team." Life is never dull when there are people around who know what baking ingredient, sprayed at high pressure, the U.S. Air Force replaced its toxic paint stripper with. Or what male body part Mademoiselle magazine found to be the favorite of most women. The object of the game is to show off one's general knowledge--that is, it's to move along a circular track, answering questions, and to collect colored wedges for correct answers in six categories: People and Places, Arts and Entertainment, History, Science and Nature, Sports and Leisure, and Wild Card. The game includes a 20-by-20-inch game board, question-and-answer cards in two card storage boxes, dice, six plastic tokens, and 36 scoring wedges. For two to six players or teams. (Still wondering about the answers to the above questions? Baking soda and eyes!) --Emilie Coulter

Great game and more difficult than the original one my family had for 30 years.

The used seller shipped it to me in good condition, ready for another 30 years of play, or until we've got it memorized. :-)

I purchased this older version after doing a lot of research where I found that the newer versions of Trivial Pursuit were not nearly as good. This looked like the newest version of higher rated TPs I could find. It's a great game and much better than my extremely outdated 1st Edition, with which I'm far too young to get any of the questions right, but the material is slightly outdated. As a scientist, I found a couple of the questions to be wrong based on newer evidence. But still a fun game to play for a large range of ages.

This finally works in my favor. We have many versions of Trivia Pursuit, and I always play with my 23 year-old son. He basically knows everything and has an amazing working memory, so I almost always lose... until now. It's a much closer game now and takes longer (more wine!). They're good questions, not fluff (like you might get in an "80s version"), but because they're older I at least have a chance at remembering songs and books which were popular in college.. My son will still beat me at history and geography and science questions, and neither of us knows squat about sports, but now I have a fighting chance. I highly recommend.

I wish they would make a Trivial Pursuit for teenagers, and one for adults. I really like the format and the idea behind the game. As a teenager, I really enjoyed the questions, but with this edition I find that the questions are way too easy. The attraction of a trivia game is being able to impress your friends with what you know or be wowed by what they know. If the questions are so easy it is just not competitive. Some of the questions even contained lame hints to the answer! I tried to salvage my ... investment by buying the Know-It-All cards, but I was disappointed with those, too. I am not a PhD, there should be at least a few questions in a trivia game that do not insult me with their obviousness. You Don't Know Jack has much better questions, and is a lot more fun overall.

Out of date questions, as I should have expected :/

Still not a fan in general, though.

This is one of the last great editions of Trivial Pursuit, before it was taken over by Hasbro.
One downside: even though several reviews suggest that this edition contains questions that are reasonably easy, I believe those people have been baseball and NFL fans for over 20 years. A lot of questions are way too detail-oriented.
Otherwise, entertaining, educational and fun!

We ordered this because we had the original Trivial Pursuit and enjoyed it so much. The game has disappeared after all of our moves, but we wanted something timely. This is it!

Delivery was right on time!

So far, we have not played the game; we have enjoyed reading the questions and answers without the board.

I don't really care for the sports and leisure questions since I don't pay any attention to sports at all, but I am very happy so far with the rest of the game! There are a few easy quesitons, but not so many that it throws off the game. A lot of the questions/ answers are outdated--especially questions about presidents/ other world leaders of time and television shows/movies, but if you were in highschool in the 90's (like me) then it's fun to try and remember those things.
