Product Description

Product Description

This is one smart mouse! An optical sensor on the Logitech Wheel Mouse transmits movement information to your computer without a roller ball—and works on almost any surface without a mouse pad. Ideal for desktop and notebook computer systems, mouse enables faster scrolling and easier Web navigation. The innovative compact shape rests comfortably in either hand. System requirements: IBM or compatible PC requires Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and available PS/2 or USB port (Windows 98 or later required for USB). Macintosh requires OS 8.6 or later and USB port. Both require CD-ROM drive and Web access for full WebWheel functionality. No. 930495-0403. Imported. 1-1/2Hx4Wx2D

Amazon.com

The first thing you'll notice when you start using the Logitech WheelMan Mouse is the red glow coming from the bottom. That's because this mouse reads movement optically instead of with a ball, which means you get improved accuracy and fewer moving parts to break down. And you don't need a mouse pad--most smooth surfaces will do. You can also go for months without having to stop to clean it, unlike conventional mice, which collect gunk in the ball and need to be cleaned all the time. Its buttons can be programmed to perform common commands, and you can use the wheel to scroll down windows without scroll bars. The WheelMan fits comfortably in either the left or right hand. It is for use with PCs or Macs.

I really love this mouse. It's the only optical mouse I have, and I must admit, it is VERY smooth. I love the design, I love the comfort it has when in your hand and I love the quality that is generally found in a logitech mouse. among all the keyboards nad mice I have used, I feel that logitech is the way to go.
Microsoft does have some good ones, as do other companies; it may be okay to go with one of those, but if you're like me and you love logitech, this is definitely a good choice.
You should pay attention that this is not a wireless mouse. I have both. Sometimes wireless gets annoying since I have to put new batteries and re-sync it. Also, it's very, very annoying when your wireless mouse accidentally falls off your desk. It hits the ground really hard, which is something that'll never happen to a mouse like this. For the time being, I personally would not buy another wireless keyboard and mouse until bluetooth technology improves and is a lot cheaper (those wireless keyboards and mice are about $150 to $200 with that technology).
I currently use this blue optical mouse with a dell laptop, and I have never had a single problem with it. If you purchase it you will definitely be very comfortable with it and happy that you bought it. I recommend it highly. :)

I bought this mouse several months ago to play some computer games. The first day I used it, the mouse worked fine. The next day I tried using the mouse and it was all jUmPy. I tried playing some games such as Quake with the mouse and it made movements on its own and often got stuck in a spinning cycle. I tried software and drivers for the mouse but nothing worked. The mouse worked a little better in Windows 2000 then XP. DON'T BUY THIS...Pros:Looks good Cons: Jumpy movements moved on its own Didn't work well with computer games Spinned around in games

I, like many people, was tired of stuck roller balls in the traditional mouse. First I bought the Microsoft intellimouse optical, but I really didn't like the feel in my hands. The optical part was great, but it was too big and the buttons felt cheesy. So, I thought I'd try a Logitech optical mouse and ordered this one. The feel in my hands is a lot better, but I had some tracking problems. After checking out the support on their web-site, I found that their optical mouse has tracking problems on some desk surfaces, particularly wood grain surfaces. Apparently, the optics get confused with some patterns. They suggested you use the optical mouse on a mouse pad or a sheet of white paper if you have this problem. I put it on a sheet of white paper and all is well now.
In summary, the optical mouse is well worth upgrading from the old roller ball. If you either don't have a wood grain surface or you're fine using it on a mouse pad or sheet of paper, then this is a great mouse (I like it much better than the Microsoft optical mouse). My logitech optical is working great now.

Well, i bought this free a few weeks ago with rebate. What else can you say about a free optical mouse? But just ignore the rebate, I own this optical mouse and another one: Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical. They are comparable in price, but this logitech one is clearly the better choice. More responsive, comfortable, accurate, better feel, better look, ....... Logitech products haven't disappointed me so far. I guess no matter what Bill does, Microsoft can't stiffle competition here. Microsoft is just not that great on hard ware.
I gave only 4 stars because this mouse is not perfect, of course. More $ can buy you a better mouse. But this is a great value for the money (even without rebate).

I have used this mouse for over ten years and have never felt the need to replace it. Need I say more? OK, maybe you want some detail. Here you go:

Left mouse button: this button clicks well. Sometimes I use it for double-clicking; sometimes I use it for dragging. Sometimes just a single-click (e.g. hyperlinks on the World Wide Web).

Right mouse button: this button also clicks well. This is important for things like changing your screen resolution or opening context menus.

Wheel: this wheel still works after ten years. It's a big step up from the situation that existed before. Remember when you had to move your mouse pointer all the way to the right side of the window, then click and drag? No longer!

USB connector: still works. I haven't noticed any mis-clicks or weird phantom clicks or movement.

PS/2 adapter: honestly, I can't really review the adapter, as I don't use it anymore. But it never gave me any troubles.

Optical sensor: also works well after ten-plus years. I'm about to use it to move the mouse pointer to the right and down to the "Submit" button.

Ladies and gentleman: I give you the Logitech Corded Optical Wheelmouse (blue).

I've been using this mouse for several months now and have no complaints. The feel of it in your hand is natural, and the wheel is just grippy enough that you can scroll with it easily. I was using a Logitech wireless ball mouse before this, so I do hate going back to having a wired mouse. But all in all it tracks well and is very accurate. I have had no problems using it on a variety of surfaces.

I've found that optical mice are incredibly superior when compared to traditional ball mice. They effortlessly glide across your mousepad (assuming that your surface isn't reflective or glossy at all, then they tend to get a little confused.) This mouse is a nice relatively inexpensive way to get that. ...As great as that seems, the scroll wheel (on Logitech mice in general) is pretty [poor]. It's very choppy, it sometimes goes several clicks before it decides to start scrolling, and it often keeps going after you've stopped scrolling. It was very frustrating at first, I'm now sadly used to it.
