Interesting,
though, kind of slow and boring in the beginning!
*There are so many talented, genius people and Heroes in Russia, when American movie makers will start to see and show positive things about other great countries ??!!

Watching Jack Ryan Season 3 was like reading Tom Clancy's very best books. The casting, acting, sets, pacing, action, and most importantly the story, are all terrific. Probably because he has aged well, John Krasinski plays Ryan much better than in showing the world weariness his experiences have given him as he strives mightily to head off World War III between Russia and the US in a plot involving treason, betrayals, attempted coups, etc. Wendell Pierce as James Greer, the veteran CIA agent with plenty of scars and a checkered career, probably gives his best performance ever in any series or film he has ever done, stealing every scene he's in. Michael Kelley, who's always good, returns from Season 2 as a now-retired CIA agent turned global security consultant who becomes indispensable to Ryan. Nina Hoss as the Czech Republic President trying to balance her country's delicate US and Russian relations is so realistic she could probably be elected there. The real star, however, is James Cosmo as Luka, the almost ancient ex-KGB head who knows where all bodies are buried because he put many of them there, can still outshoot anyone else in the cast, and proves formidable as Ryan's unexpected ally in trying to head off war by taking on his own countrymen. Season 3 is not perfect -- the editing gets sloppy in transitioning the episodes; Ryan, as the type who ignores all the rules to win, would never be allowed to do what he does in the real world (as he is in fact being hunted for treason by the US throughout most of the story); and Betty Gabriel as Ryan's official supervisor deserves a better script as the one weak link in the character cast because despite her acting ability too many of her lines don't work. However, it is close enough to deserve 5 stars and then some. The writers deserve praise for working the Ukraine conflict credibly into the story. Jack Ryan Season 3 ranks among the all-time best in its genre. See it!

John Krasinski has become my favorite "Jack Ryan" - and season 3 evolves very differently than the first two assignments. The usually meticulous and fastidiously researched analyst now full fledged agent - ventures out into a global geo-political nuclear whim and "limb" based on intel from a double agent. This seems like the antithesis of the former analyst, who trusts facts and rarely based action on the trust of others. From this leap of faith - and a stellar record of foiling and solving critical international threats, the seeds of a new apocalyptic showdown are sown and we are drawn into a kaleidoscope of multi-faceted characters, and what a ride it is!
Not enough superlatives can be expressed for James Cosmo's portrayal of Luka Gocharov - a masterful and omniscient Soviet old-timer - both military trustee and operative who equals Jack Ryan's adherence to moral ethics. The storyline depends on the mutual "leaps of faith" between Jack and Luka who take equally huge risks and journeys to prevent nuclear confrontation. Both men are complex in admirable yet opposite ideologies. For me - this depiction of character development drove the entire plot.
We even get to see "Tony" reprise an appearance as an asset to aid Jack from a Russian henchman. A fan favorite. Betty Gabriel plays Elizabeth Wright, the station chief who treads carefully between protocol and agency hierarchy. James Greer and Mike November return as Jack Ryan's trusted allies even in his procedural peril.
After several viewings - for me, the plot is a study in first person omniscience - Luka Gocharov's. He begins and ends the story. He is the pivotal protagonist of the epic - who took Jack's mutual leap of faith to it's valiant conclusion. Of course, Jack is the hero, but Luka is the heart of story. This is what makes season 3 so different. It was a worthwhile risk. Sadly, all his allies were dead.
