Winzer's Obituary
Winzer M. Jimerson, I, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of 76. Winzer loved his Savior and his family more than anything in the world and he worked hard and served his church faithfully to the glory of God. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Stephens Jimerson; son, Winzer M. Jimerson, II; daughter: Mary Jimerson Fortenberry; grandchildren, JaKobe, Jessica, Jaylah, Mia, Malia; son-in-love: Jesse Fortenberry; uncle, Charlie; aunt, Velma; sisters-in-law, Mary Parker, Annie Wheeler, Shelia Stephens; numerous siblings by his father, Herman Poke; godchildren: Jacqueline Jimerson, Dorcey Jimerson Alexander, Trenice Beauchamp, Tia Sanxton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kate Cary; his father, Herman Pope; grandparents: Frank and Velma Jimerson; uncles: Herbert, Frank, Willie, Rosevelt, Ed, Lloyd; aunts: Laura, Odessa, Bertha. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of His Legacy Service on Saturday, February 17, 2024, for 10:00 a.m. at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 8282 I-10 Service Road, New Orleans, LA 70126. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Pastor Fred Luter, Jr. Officiating. Interment will take place on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460.
