The Fuzzy Dwarf Lion (Dendrochirus brachypterus) should be housed in a 50+ gallon aquarium with plenty of hiding places. While shy at first, they will become comfortable and be very active. The top spines are venomous and will cause a reaction similar to a very bad bee sting. All Lionfish are safe with corals, but they will eat any fish, and most crustaceans they can fit into their mouth. Initially, Lions may require live feeder shrimp, small saltwater Mollies or other live fish. They will eventually adapt to frozen krill, small pieces of silverside and other meaty foods. Their max size is around 7".

NOTE- Some of these photos show variants with small amounts of yellow. These are called "Yellow Phase" Fuzzy Dwarfs. When available, they are more expensive and will be listed as a separate product. Please contact us if interested.

If stung, remove any broken spines in the wound, and immediately soak the affected area in the hottest water you can stand (not scalding), for 30 minutes. For individuals sensitive, or allergic, to stings, its advisable to seek medical attention immediately.
