Epimedium 'Akebono'

A deciduous perennial with interesting leaves and delicate looking flowers. The heart-shaped young leaves are tinted red when they emerge in spring, fading to green as they mature. The flowers are held on wiry stems up to 25cm tall. The flowers consist of long spurred pink petals with white tips and white, flushed pink inner petals which flower from March to May.

Epimediums make a great groundcover in any reasonable soil in cool, partial shade. They are drought tolerant once established.
