Roy Valentine Schrumpf, retired principal

Roy Valentine Schrumpf, 68, of Millville, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at his home.  He was born in Jersey City, N.J., Nov. 12, 1951, son of the late Leroy and Ann Schrumpf.

Mr. Schrumpf began his teaching career at Ridgefield Park High School in 1973 and continued until his retirement as principal for the Roosevelt School in Ridgefield Park, N.J.  Following his retirement, he and his wife Claire moved to the beach, a place where he always wanted to live.  Mr. Schrumpf enjoyed many pastimes, but none more so than having a good meal and making memories with cherished family and friends.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be genuinely missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Mr. Schrumpf is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Claire Urgo Schrumpf; his son, Michael Roy Schrumpf (Lauren) of Midland Park, N.J.; his daughter, Kelly Lind (Jacob) of York, Pa.; his brother, Robert Schrumpf (Gay) of Ridgefield Park; his sister, Ann Marie Coyle (Kevin) of Ridgefield Park;  his grandchildren:  Katie Lind, Emmaleigh Lind and Anna Schrumpf;  and his many nieces and nephews.

Prayer services will be held Friday, March 6, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, Ocean View.  A viewing will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr. Schrumpf's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or to the John Theurer Cancer Center, 92 2nd St., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
