Audiphile Performance on a beer budget!
Crutchfield customer from Heidelberg, MS on 4/8/2024
I am simply going to say the Best-sounding speakers for the audio lover or audiophile on a budget! These get better with source upgrades and can keep up with speakers three times there price range. I needed more punch and wider Imaging in my listening space. These answer the bill and more! Bravo Andrew Jones and Elac staff!
Pros: Great accurate sound, the performance of high priced Bookshelves, affordable, great Imaging, Detailed Soundstage and port in front of cabinet
Cons: Press on speaker Grilles (instead of magnet mount grilles!)

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 review
Robert from Gainesville, GA on 4/7/2024
Based on the many positive reviews in relation to the few that were negative, I decided to take a chance. For perspective, I have previously purchased Jamos 803's which I consider to be a close match in price, quality, and overall performance. The Elac speakers are for my onkyo 2.1 receiver which does double duty; tv and turntable. The Elacs replaced my vintage floor speakers. I find the bass is slightly lacking but with some tweaks on the receiver it can made optimal. A subwoofer would eliminate anyone's hesitation relative to the bass. The jamos are definitely a level above the elacs in bass as they are punchy. Otherwise, the mid and high range are better than the Jamos being crisper. The elacs and Jamos both outperformed my vintage floor speakers right out of the box. The Elacs would be a safe purchase and would add a well rounded sound for music and TV setups.
Pros: Great overall sound for TV and music sources. Sturdy construction, quality design.
Cons: I prefer magnetic speaker grilles. The Elacs have posts that fit snugly. It Would potentially be more of issue if you often remove grilles.

Ok but unexciting to me
Michael from Beverly Hills, MI on 4/1/2024
Generally an ok speaker, fairly neutral sound and good base. But they do take a bit of power, the mid range is a bit flat, they don't have much spatial imaging or instrument separation. I really couldn't find any music that they made very exciting. A good value on sale but ultimately, I'm returning them because they just don't do much for me.
Pros: Fairly neutral sounding. Good bass response for a small speaker. A good value on sale.
Cons: Fairly Inefficient. The mid range seems subdued to me. Not much imaging or separation. Not an exciting speaker to listen to.

David from Mount Vernon, WA on 3/3/2024
Great sounding speakers. Great size, but alone they are lacking a bit of bass. I am using them in a stereo system, running a TX-8511 Onkyo receiver. The system does not allow for a sub woofer, (old school) so the deep sound of bass is not there, but if you could add a sub, these would be a great mid range, small system setup.

I'm really impressed with the sound these speakers produce and the build quality. I have them paired with a Jamo 10" subwoofer They're not as deep as the Polk ES20's, which I was also considering. The fact that they're front ported is a benefit for those with space limitations. Got them on sale for $280. Even at the regular price, it's a great purchase.

Disappointed
Rafael from GEORGETOWN, TX on 2/8/2024
I really wanted to like these speakers. I played them almost daily for hours over the course of a month, so I think they had a very good break-in period. I found the bass strong and punchy, and the mids nice and clear. But the high end was seriously lacking clarity. The highs sounded dead, muddy, especially with female voices. Another big problem was a lack of soundstage. The sound felt constrained, coming straight out of the two boxes with little in between. My 35+ year-old pair of Boston Acoustics A70 sound much better. If Elac has some model that can beat them, it's surely a much more expensive one. Certainly one with a better tweeter.
Pros: Decent bass and midrange
Cons: Poor treble. The grill is a thick, honeycomb plastic frame, plus the tweeter is covered by an additional metal grill. These speakers simply don't match all the hype on the internet.

Great bookshelf speakers
Thomas from Kenmore, NY on 2/6/2024
At first I was a little reluctant to buy these because I had never heard of ELAC speakers before. But I went with Crutchfield's recommendation and bought them to replace my old Pioneer HPM -100's (big heavy speakers from the 1970's). When I first hooked up the ELAC's they seemed a bit too strong in the mid and high frequencies, just my personal taste I guess. So I hooked up my old equalizer and toned down the mid and high and upped the bass a little. The ELAC's now sound fantastic and actually perform just as good if not better than my old Pioneers. If you're looking for good quality, reasonably priced bookshelf speakers I'd recommend the ELAC's.
Pros: Reasonably priced Solidly built Great sound from a smallish speaker
Cons: None that I can think of

Great sound for any use
Eric from Canon City, CO on 2/5/2024
These are perfect as rear surround speakers for my system. You could use them as main speakers, too. They are great for television or music. The sound quality is full and not overwhelming. It took a minor effort to get the right distance established in use as surrounds. Easily wall mountable. Got everything from Crutchfield.
Pros: Rich sound for music or television
Cons: Fairly large, especially in physical depth. But that helps make the great sound comes from.

More Than Just a Taste of High-End Sound
Monty from Austin on 1/9/2024
Enormously competent speakers that aren't going to win any beauty contests. Fortunately, they are capable of disappearing when the music starts. Oh, they aren't ugly...rather pedestrian as far as loudspeakers go, it's just that the B6.2 delivers so much high-end sound that you expect them to draw attention to themselves with the typical cabinetry flair of much more expensive designs. Within their frequency range capabilities, I have no nits to pick. Articulate and musical across the board.
Pros: Amplifier Friendly Numerous Sonic Virtues Articulate Without Being Fatiguing
Cons: Needs 100 hours or more playing time to fully open up and sing.

Absolutely love these speakers. Got great help/advice from JP at Crutchfield. The soundstage is fantastic, it's so wide it's hard to believe. Right now I only have them paired with a Sony STR-DH190 but they fill my room, 13x19. You can easily pick out the instruments and vocals are right in center, seems like Frank Sinatra was right in my LR. Super happy, and Crutchfield is tops. Oh yeah, Elac threw in speaker stands!

The ELAC Debut 2.0, B6.2, were in my price range and had good U-Tube reviews. Classical music, including piano, sound great to my ears. I am mainly a Movie watcher/DD listener and with Denon speaker calibration, I am engulfed all around, in my 8 x 10 HT room. These Elac's sound great in near distant field or 7 feet away. Not for classical music
Crutchfield customer from Rancho Cucamonga, CA on 1/5/2023
I bought these on sale after comparing almost all Crutchfield bookshelf speakers under $500 on the very useful rental kit. They came through as the best balanced of the lot for my mostly classical music taste. For that they get 3 stars. But unfortunately, in real life they did not deliver. Tapping on the side panel, I heard strong resonance. This and the ported woofer contribute to a messy undifferentiated low end. The midrange sounded stuffed, and the top undiscriminating. I was hoping they would be a good replacement or even upgrade for my 43 year old inexpensive main speakers, but on a side by side comparison they were outperformed in everything, from piano, to clarinet, to orchestra, to voice. Someone here noted they need a center channel for dialogue. True, because a clean mid-range is where the voices reside, and they lack that. The moral of the story is that classical remains an expensive taste. Thankfully, Crutchfield makes exchanges easy. After this experience I will simply exchange them for a smaller pair for undemanding bedroom or computer listening, and I will have to hold on to my current speakers until I am ready to spend well above $1000. For anyone wondering, my current speakers are the Hungarian-made Videoton Minimax, purchased in 1979 for sixty British pounds.

Waited to long to make a change
Douglas from Delray Beach, FL on 11/10/2022
It had been a long time ago that I bought my Bozak bookshelf speakers in fact 1972. Bozak at that time was a leader with all types of speakers. I decided to go with the Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 speakers after doing a lot of research. I was not disappointed at all. The sound was amazing and much better than I was getting from the Bozaks. I'm sure that after 50 years the technologies have greatly changed but the sound quality was just stunning. I'm so glad that I did this and each time I listen to all the audio formats I have hooked up to the Elacs I seem rewarded for the change. The Elac speakers are smaller, lighter, and more refined in all aspects. I wish I had done this sooner. There is always a time for a change.
Pros: smaller, lighter, and more refined.
Cons: Should have made the change earlier!

Very happy with this purchase. Have had them for about 9 months now, lots of pop, lots doom and stoner metal. My children have dropped them off the stands about 7 times and they're still totally fine no internal damage and other than a chip in the cabinet and some few small pieces of vinyl being peeled off. At Christmas my nephew knocked the speaker over into the wall, punched a hole right into the drywall. Speaker survived. Audiophile sound quality? I don't know. My first set of hi-fi speakers but I'm really happy!

Optimal
Barbara from Fort Collins, CO on 3/31/2022
With help from a Crutchfield expert, the ELAC was selected from several brand choices. I purchased both the stereo speakers and a center speaker. ELAC meets the demands of a specific setting: namely, a shelf speaker that will be on an actual shelf within an open cabinet. All speakers, including their ports, point out from the cabinet; and that is a good attribute. Another good attribute is the warmer sound of the speakers. But, the woofer dimensions are comparatively small and that is not a good attribute. Bringing up the volume on the mid-low range has proven to be a problem. All in all, given that I must use this open cabinet and that one older Infinity speaker had busted, the ELAC replacement successfully hit an optimum price & performance. It is for this optimum and the expert help from Crutchfield that I'm happy to have my new ELAC speakers.
Pros: Fits the requirements for space. Supplies a warm quality to the sound. Optimizes quality and price.
Cons: Woofers are relatively small, this making the middle/low range weak.

"Delivers the goods" without breaking the bank
Christopher from Beloit, OH on 3/16/2022
Last year I added a Elac Debut 2.0 C6.2 center channel to my Tekton Enzo front end. It's a 2-channel/5.2 home theater system set up with the Audacity system on my Denon receiver. I am quite satisfied with the Elac Debut 2.0 C6.2. So much so that when a friend started talking about a surround sound system I told him abut the Elac Debut 2.0 6.2 line. I ended up installing a complete Elac Debut 2.0 6.2 system for him - all from Crutchfield. A Denon receiver, a pair of- 6.2 front towers, a 6.2 center channel, a pair of 6.2 bookshelf speakers on stands for sides and a 10" Elac sub. He's VERY happy with his system. My older Denon AVR-X3500H receiver is 7.2 capable and just this past month I decided to add a pair of Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 bookshelf speakers on stands for the sides. I now use my little Realistic Minimus-77's for rear speakers (due to the configuration of my room the 77's are high wall mounted behind the listening position). It's now a full 7.2 system and I'm very happy with the Elac additions I've made. I find myself listening to music much more and Dolby encoded movies (even the 5.1 movies) are so very much more enjoyable. In my experience the Elac Debut 2.0 6.2 line really "delivers the goods"without breaking the bank.
Pros: Look and sound great, good value
Cons: The pins that retain the grille cover are poorly designed and are easily broken when removing the grilles. You must use GREAT CARE when removing the grilles. To Elac's credit, they sent out a replacement grille for my center channel at no cost.

Port Townsend
Fred from Port Townsend on 3/4/2022
This is a five-star review for a product I just returned. Read on. I ordered three sets of speakers to pair with a Denon AVR-S660H receiver in search of a modest but good-sounding 2.1 system. The three speaker pairs I requested, lowest to highest price, were Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2; Wharfedale Diamond 12.2; Polk Audio R200. Wharfedales first. This speaker does some things better than the others. Sensational at reproducing TV and movie audio, percussion, acoustic guitar, synth and male vocals. A+ for R&B and country. Great at thumping out today's modern pop, e.g. The Weeknd, Bieber, Drake et al. But, when listening to delicate female vocals, strings and ride cymbals the Wharfedales sounded "limited". Next the Polk R200s. WOW! Wide soundstage. The extended low and high frequency response provided what the Wharfedales did not while not sacrificing much in the midrange department. I consider the R200s to be in a different class than the other two speakers. I listened to Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer" on the Polks and decided that these would not go back in the box. Finally, the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2s. This speaker is amazing for the money. Balanced. Faithful. Can listen all day. Just not exciting. I like to go WOW! when I hear music. I once bought a Honda Accord and had buyer's remorse on the way home from the dealership. I thought I just purchased the most boring car on the planet. Best car I ever owned. This Elac is the Accord of speakers.
Pros: A price performer Balanced, Faithful The "Honda Accord" of bookshelf speakers

Got this set up in my rec room, which is 100 sq. ft., and they sound perfect. The more juice you give them, the better they sound. I don't feel like it needs a sub but it would complete them. Once I get the center channel I will be placing these in my living home theater.
Pros: Well balanced sound.
Cons: None.

Love these speakers
craig m from Spokane, WA on 12/19/2021
I just received these speaker and they sound great. They are hooked up to a vintage Pioneer SX-1050 receiver and have surprising bass response and clear highs. I am curious how these ELAC speakers will perform after the break-in period other reviewers mention, because I love the sound right out of the box. This is one product where customer reviews can be taken seriously. I would recommend the B6.2 speakers to anyone wanting great sound in a compact package at a affordable price. When you factor in the fantastic Crutchfield price and free shipping, these speakers are hard to beat.
Pros: great sound at an affordable price sound like much larger speakers
Cons: nothing

Great speakers. Give them some time and some power.
Greg from Missoula, MT on 12/13/2021
I got the b6.2s around four months ago and wanted to wait to comment due to a number of reviewers recommending a break-in period. Out of the box they sounded fine at moderate to higher volumes; however, several months in, they do indeed sound better with better low-volume performance and improved bass. I ran them initially with an 85 wpc Yamaha receiver, which was fine. When I switched to my main amp- at 251 wpc into 8 ohms (more into 6) - they were much improved, both in overall sound and at lower volumes (though low volume is truly not their forte, IMO). I have experimented with the tweeter grills off and on (and I always have the main grill clothes off), and find that having them on sounds better to me; more focused, without any apparent loss of soundstaging or imaging. They are a bit mid forward and fairly analytical. Bass is more than fine- for me- without a sub in a ~2000 cubic foot room. Despite the front ports, bass is still somewhat position-sensitive. In short, I love them and highly recommend. Find the right placement and give them decent power. I listen mostly to alternative rock, jazz, and horn-driven funk.
Pros: Excellent mids and highs. Decent bass without sub. Get better over time.
Cons: Need time to open up. Low volume sounds a tad flatter than expected.

Better than expected
Crutchfield customer from St Augustine, FL on 10/18/2021
After numerous reviews on several different sites, I purchased these speakers (on sale). Hopefully, everyone who purchases these speakers does their homework, and allows them to break-in for about 100-hours. If you don't break them in, they sound bad, like you'd expect from a cheap speaker. That may be why big box stores push B&W speakers, because they don't sound bad right out of the box. As they break-in, they become far more musical. Prior to purchasing these, my son had given me a pair of B&W speakers. They are very good speakers, but they have a certain sound quality to them that makes extended listening to them tiring. Plus, they need a subwoofer. After break-in, the ELAC are much more defined, able to play flat with no subwoofer, and sound far better than one would expect at this price point. I'm using them with a vintage (45-year old) amplifier and a fairly new preamp. Sounds better than what I've had in the house for at least 30 years (they don't compare to the Magnepans, but not much does). Now I'm wondering how the 6.2 reference sounds!
Pros: Very Musical Sepakers
Cons: they weren't free

I wanted to like these speakers.
Michael from HAVRE DE GRACE, MD on 3/24/2021
After watching dozen and dozens of speaker reviews on YouTube and reading reviews everywhere else I decided to check these out. I'm disappointed, and after trying to hear what I'm missing Ive decided "it" just wasn't there. I've compared these to an old pair of EPI series 3 model 120 speakers and a pair of Klipch book shelf speakers and there is discernable highs and definition missing from these ELAC speakers, uncomfortably so... The bass is punchy yet not deep. The mid range/ vocals are very good. I'm no audiophile and I cant put my finger on it exactly but its just not what I thought these would be. I'm returning.
Pros: Great midrange and vocal reproduction. Good build quality.
Cons: Too warm and subdued. Missing that wow factor.

It took a week after shipping for it to show up on the USPS tracking system, but they did arrive right after that. The speakers are very well suited to the small office/room where I have them. Nice range of tones, good bass that doesn't rattle your fillings and terrific mid-range. They work well with the 60 W Teac 501DA receiver I have and sound a little better than the smaller Polk Audio speakers they replaced. Very good value for the money.

DON"T DO IT!
Randy from Joplin on 2/15/2021
Purchased a pair of these and a pair of towers and in less than two years one of them began shorting out the system at high volume. It took me a while to figure out whether the problem was with the receiver or the speaker. After a bit, I was able to isolate the problem to one speaker and contacted ELAC customer service. No good. After a long delay in contacting me back, I was eventually told I would have to send the heavy speaker back to them and they would give me "discount" shipping. Lol. They wanted $60 each way for a total of $120 and did not give me any idea of how long it would take or whether I would be responsible if it was damaged in shipping (I later found out via ELAC's website that I was indeed responsible). So, for a speaker at this price it would cost me perhaps months of non-use, plus $120 out of pocket, and no guarantee my speaker would be covered if damaged in shipping to get it fixed. Needless to say, that was ridiculous. I sent them an email expressing my dissatisfaction, to which I never received a reply. I had spent weeks researching this particular speaker and thought I had made the right choice. Now I am as sorry as can be. Look elsewhere for great towers. I ended up just buying a pair of Klipsch towers for a little bit more and far superior output and listening experience, as these ELACs were power-hungry.
Pros:
Cons: ALL CONS. If you purchase these, keep your fingers crossed while listening.

Great for vinyl lovers
Crutchfield customer from Randolph, VT on 2/4/2021
I tempered my expectations on how much these speakers would improve my sound from my previous setup (pioneer's on both channels). And right out of the gate, straight out of the box they have been a significant improvement. They are definitely louder than my old setup. The soundstage, the clarity, 'musicality' and warmth to these are great for a budget vinyl audiophile setup. For the price, I'm not sure I could have found a better speaker for what I'm looking for my setup.
Pros: -Warmth -Separation -Soundstage
Cons: -Might be too big in some small rooms -Performance is diminished slightly at lower volumes -Some don't like the look (didn't bother me at all).

Excellent speakers for all kinds of music, rock, jazz even classical. Overall , the definition of instruments and vocals was very good for bookshelf speakers in this price range. Bass response was very good overall. I was using a Yamaha a-s801 integrated amp to drive these speakers. I own a pair of Watkins Generation 4 bookshelf speakers that are much better than these ELAC speakers, but they cost much more and are worth the higher price. Highly recommend the B6.2 ELAC .

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2
Crutchfield customer from Sandy, UT on 2/1/2021
These speakers have outstanding reviews but for me they sounded just good, not great. I liked the idea of having a bookshelf speaker with its own enclosure to have a "controlled" airspace. On the the Debut 2.0 6.2 speakers, the treble and cymbals seemed to be distant though they did a good job with vocals. And I was unhappy with the speaker wires running around the room and these big boxes that took up so much space. I found myself going to IKEA and RC Willey looking for new furniture to make the bookshelf speakers work. I debated and ultimately realized I needed an in-wall setup and I was so grateful to Crutchfield for making a return of the bookshelf speakers possible and I exchanged for 5 different ELAC In-Wall Debut speakers and for me this setup sounded off the charts better, vast improvement. I had them matched up with a SVS PB 1000 subwoofer, which is awesome.
Pros: Beautiful speakers, substantial cabinets. Beautifully made.
Cons: Symbol and percussion seemed distant. For me they took up too much space. Not a lively and beautiful sounding as I had hoped.

What are you waiting for?
Crutchfield customer from Williamsville, NY on 1/15/2021
Like the title says..... I bought these for my second system and they have not disappointed. These replaced a pair of B&W DM602 S2 so that says something. I like these so much better. I have the Elac UniFI floor standers as well and those replaced B&W's also. Are they better? My personal experience is these sound better to my ears and most importantly make me smile every time I hear them. Taut bass that defy their size and smooth mids and highs. And I'm only driving them with 15 (old school) watts per side. One of these days I'll hook them up to my big boy amp. Anyway they are excellent and at this price point. Just get them!
Pros: Taut, punchy bass. Smooth mids and highs
Cons: Maybe a little big, depends on your situation. But how else can you get so much bass out of bookshelves?

Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2
Crutchfield customer from Somerset, MA on 1/1/2021
I've owned many speakers in $300-$500 price range, and a couple in the $100 price point, specifically the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR, which sound amazing considering the price. The Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 are an excellent pair of bookshelf speakers. Once again the price point doesn't coincide with the sound quality. They are very open, and the high, midrange, and low sounds are all very clear. In my opinion there is no need for a center channel speaker because they handle dialogue perfectly. The bass is tight and punchy, and I actually thought my subwoofer was on when it was still off while first listening to the Elacs. I'm guessing the sound will only get better with break in.
Pros: Sound quality, bass, great dispersion, clear midrange, construction quality.
Cons: The covers aren't great, it's much better to leave them off.

Really love these speakers. Bought them after reading several reviews when they were rated ONE of FIVE Best Speakers in 2020. I am very satisfied with the overall product; great look, quality build in a solid enclosure and exceptional sound. The speakers live up to their name for overall excellent sound throughout the low to high frequencies. Love the especially deep Bass and the response even at loud volume was very good. They are being driven by a Onkyo TX 8050. Truly a great buy at a bargain price.

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2
Crutchfield customer from Pittsburgh, PA on 12/29/2020
First of all, anybody reading this review should know that I returned the speakers. For what that's worth. But after two weeks of using them in my system and my room, I think they're excellent. Not just excellent for the money but excellent, period. They generate enough bass to be felt through the floor upstairs. They're accurate and detailed. They image very well. My room, however, was just too large (18' x 12' x 7 1/2' ceilings) for the Elacs to fill. My other speakers are Magnepan MMG planar magnetics and they throw a huge soundstage that the Elacs couldn't match. If my system were set up in a smaller room, I'd have kept the Elacs and sold the Maggies. The Debut 2.0 B6.2 is that good.
Pros: Great bass, accurate, detailed.
Cons: A bit too small for a large room, even with 100 wpc driving them.

Ok,so they don't suck...let's get that out of the way. They are what they are tho. It's possible to have a good time with em,but, the degree or extent of said good time greatly depends upon ones previous experience / exposure. For me,I could live with em if I had to, but I know what Im missing. So, for a variety of reasons, I gotta try something else. But I don't hate them, I get what all the hype has been about. They are just not for me / my current needs. Respect Tho!!! Really was expecting less at this price. Depending on ones needs they could be ideal. Just not ideal for me. Rather spend a tiny bit more & get what is much more suited for my situation. Respect tho.

Maybe I'll like these more after a break in period but the bottom line is you can't expect miracles from a speaker at this price. I purchased based on reading reviews here and watching the video, but the bass is really lacking. Sounds flat. I'm suing a Denon receiver rated at 65 watts per channel. I've played both vinyl and CD. Streamer coming later.
Pros: Solid build, price.

I reserved judgement until after the break in period. I'm not an audio expert or engineer of any kind. I'm judging based on what I hear, and that's it. I'm unimpressed with the highs of these speakers. They aren't as clear and projected as I expected based on the stellar reviews I've read. In the high frequency range, my ears tell me they fall way short of the lesser expensive Sony SSCS5. That being said, I believe the mid to low range and performance is astounding for this price range. I'm amazed with the sound that comes from such a small speaker. Bass is crisp, responsive and clear. The mid range is equally impressive. I've paired these with the SSCS5 and a two channel receiver for a fantastic full range home stereo for a small budget.
Pros: Mid to low range response is fantastic Build quality for the price
Cons: High range performance and clarity could be better.

Sold on ELAC!
Crutchfield customer from Bluffton, SC on 12/6/2020
I am extremely happy with these speakers, which I use solo as a 2.0 stereo setup. They are paired with an Onkyo TX-NR696. I care more about music than home theater, and these do what I want them to do, which is faithfully reproduce music whether it's on vinyl, cd, or digital file. As other reviews indicate, these speakers need several hours of initial use before they bloom. One thing to consider, as other reviews have also indicated, is that these need adequate volume to project bass. Bass dies off quickly at lower volumes. If I didn't share a wall with neighbors, I would already have bought a subwoofer to supplement. For home theater, these are also a great choice. They do a pretty good job at creating the phantom center channel, but hearing dialogue can be an issue. I just ordered the ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2 to solve this issue but also because I am sold on ELAC. Looking forward to eventually completing an ELAC 5.1 setup!
Pros: Great overall sound. What more do you want?
Cons: Bass dies off at low volume; probably need subwoofer if you care about that. Dialogue can be an issue without a center channel.

I was looking for a nice set of bookshelf speakers for my living room to pair with a two-channel stereo receiver that would not break the bank. These were spot on, and they were under $300. Out of the box, I determined the fit and finish was top notch. The sound they produce is awesome for a speaker in this price range. I have a nice sub, which I was going to plug into the system but decided that it is not really needed; the ELAC's bass is as nice as the high end. The more juice they are given, the better they sound. One can spend a lot more money and not have this quality. Clear transparent sound, good bass for a speaker of this size. Solid construction utilizing quality materials. The sound when playing vinyl is spot on. CD's are unbelievable! You do not need a woofer with these speakers. Later on, I think I will purchase the center speaker and that will complete the setup.
Pros: Great for the budget! The sound is crisp and clear. The bass is awesome, not overpowering.
Cons: For speakers of this quality, They should upgrade to magnets to attach the grills.

Pros: Great sound.
Cons: None.

These speakers sound amazing. I pair them with a NAD C316BEE integrated amp. The highs sound great and the bass is loud. I will say the bass does not shake the pictures off the wall but I'm fine with that. Highly recommend them.
Pros: Great sound. Great price.
Cons: Nothing

Crutchfield customer from Birdsboro, PA on 5/22/2020
These speakers sound amazing paired with my Cambridge Audio CXA60. The 6.5"woofers are very capable of reproducing a lot of bass, but they won't rattle the walls or anything like that. The sound is clear at higher volumes with proper tone adjustments. I'm sure they'll even sound a little better once I put them on stands too. I really feel like I have to look to see were the sound is coming from, it's pretty awesome.
Pros: Impressive sound quality, bass reproduction is amazing for their size. I keep looking around the room for bigger speakers.
Cons: None

Speakers are as expected from reading reviews and store commentary. Speakers have a musical sound to them, hard to say it's because of one characteristic or another but they sound good. Some transients get squashed a bit whether it's in a Mahler symphony or a rock album but these speakers sound great.
Pros: Musical sounding, full range, nice bass even though I use a sub-woofer just a tad.
Cons: Some transient FFFs get a bit fuzzy for an instant--like a cymbol crash accompanied by a slam from the rest of the band. Speakers don't smooth over harsh material--don't really know if that's a con.

Why Can't I touvh It?
Patrick from Lutherville Timonium, MD on 4/25/2020
With the COVID-19 lockdown I have been upgrading and playing with my two sound systems. First up was my den as I am spending 8 hours a day in here. Spoke with Crutchfield and got these ELACs - this was after I was thinking of getting some speakers that were twice the price. My room isn't all that big ,10x10, and I have these hooked up to a late 70s Yamaha CR-440 with a SHIIT Modi DAC connected to a Mac and TIDAL. Whoa!!!!! This setup is great. There is a reason you are seeing so many positive reviews on these guys both here and on YouTube. The Yamaha powers these things awesome - I've never gone past 50% (vintage amps are the way). Put on Philip Glass, Vampire Weekend, Wale or whatever you want - this setup owns it. I'm always playing with placement as sometimes I am at my desk and sometimes on the sofa behind me. As always I am glad I went through Crutchfield and they have earned my business and I trust them - fantastic customer service.
Pros: sound, sound, sound - all the highs, all the lows and no sub needed.
Cons: wish the finish was just that much better and wish the grills were with magnets, but for the price this seems awfully picky.

Feed power and they will perform.
Crutchfield customer from Janesville, WI on 4/21/2020
I was initially unimpressed. I hooked these up to my ancient Sansui 441 and felt they lacked quite a bit in presence. However, after about 20 hours, I hooked them up to my new Cambridge receiver and they came alive. These speakers need power to wake up. In the right size room, with optimal placement, there is no need for a sub. Build quality is average and they are not as pleasing to look at as other bookshelf speakers but the sound quality is quite good. I now get the hype.
Pros: Price, Crutchfield service, good overall sound quality.
Cons: None really, nothing aesthetically pleasing about them.

If JBL and Klipsch had a baby it would be these!
Douglas from Clyde on 4/17/2020
Oh my _! Now I understand all the raves...... My mains are a set of JBL 530s and a SVS PB1000, not the most expensive, but not cheap. 140 watts of Yamaha Aventage at 6 ohms, my reference. Elacs hooked up to Yamaha 481, at 110 w at 6ohms, with a Yamaha NSSW 100, SW. Unhooked the Def Tec SM65, for the B6.2. At first they gave me that sound of way back, uncompressed, original sound. No coloration. A good thing. With Pandora just alright. Then some Steve Miller on CD, along with some M Gentry, and C Trick. All CDs I love on my main. Sounds good, played with the internal eq and balance. Really good but not enough that I will keep Them. Decided to run the internal YPAO on the Yammi. All checked out OK. It set to the crossover to 40, seems to be the norm in this room. Sat down in my chair and pressed play. The YPAO program literally picked up the soundstage and dropped it perfectly in place. I have never heard music coming from so many places at once! I was dumbstruck. I was not done though, what if I check the sub crossover. I raised it to 50 , 60 and at 90, the sub and B6.2 just fell in love with each other. I auditioned the RP51 from Klipsch just last month in the same room. Awesome product and tremendous sound, but my ears would ring. The SM 65 stayed and the RP51, returned. I thought I would never replace the SM 65, B6.2 so musical, unreal at this price. I would dare to put these up against the JBL 530, as long as I have an option of room correction. Yes that good!
Pros: Cost Clarity Details Soundstage Musical These are a drop the mic explosion, with room correction. Don't even care what a movie sounds like, its that good for music
Cons: I used room correction to blow the sound up!! Is this a con, not in my opinion. CField was sold out, so I strayed to get them.

1 x C6.2, 2 x B6.2 and 4 x B5.2
Crutchfield customer from Tulsa, OK on 4/15/2020
I chose the Debut's because the reviews indicated that they were tonally balanced. I took a chance and ordered a pair of B6.2's and a C6.2 as the front three for surround. After listening to them for a week, I liked them so well that I took advantage of the sale that was still in effect and ordered two pairs of B5.2's, two for surround and the other two are on my desktop - for now. In my room with the surround, all of the surfaces are hard and the furniture is leather, so I had been concerned that some of the other brands in this category would be harsh in this room, as are my Klipsch Forte's that live in another room with carpet. These are indeed balanced tonally in this room. I am unaware of the tweeter, the treble is just *there* where it belongs. Not screechy or muted. I'm in the acoustical Goldilocks zone. I found that there is a slight tonal difference between the C6.2 and the B6.2's. I only hear it with the pink noise setup-tones in the surround receiver. It almost sounds as if the main vocal range is punched up a tiny bit, but it is still minor. The tonal difference between the B6.2's and the B5.2's is very small. So just listening, music of various types and styles and quality, movies of various types and I haven't been dissatisfied yet, in the month I've had them. These are mated with a folded horn sub, crossed over at 60 Hz. I might try something different someday. I'm good for now.
Pros: Clear, smooth, uncolored sound. Look nice with the grill off. Build is sturdy, internal bracing allows me to place TV on the C6.2.
Cons: Cloth covered plastic grill and snap-in mounts, would prefer magnetic. Packaging uses Styrofoam, would prefer something more readily recyclable and/or collapsible, perhaps all-cardboard supporting structures.

So beautiful, they brought tears of joy to my eyes!
Crutchfield customer from San Francisco, CA on 3/29/2020
I have only one classical cd I know pretty well. First played it on my old speakers. After I changed to the Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 it was like new music, closing my eyes I felt as though they were really playing right there. That's when tears of joy came to my eyes! I don't really "hear the speakers" but rather the music!:-) My CD player plays at 24/92. All my CD's sound much better! The second most noticeable positive change was in my Vinyl. I'm playing on a vintage Technics 3350 (1978/79) turntable with a Schiit Audio Mani phono preamp. The third biggest positive change was streaming (Bluetooth only at 24/44.1. My understanding is that it's a good idea to get good speakers first and then upgrade the other components. In the future I'd like to get a CD that plays at least 24/192 and WiFi streamer that plays the same. And upgrade my current receiver (old Denon S-301). In summary the Elac speakers are a great upgrade to my system and make my music come alive at a new higher level! Great value! I got my pair on sale and "scratch and dent" (no visible scratches or dents at all!!:-). I am very happy, satisfied and truly love these speakers for the beautiful music the reproduce. I find them great for classic Rock (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young...) Jazz (Miles Davis...) and Classical (Tchaikovsky...) If these speakers are an upgrade for you I'm confident you will love them too!!!:-)))
Pros: Bring out details in music I never heard Nice base Nice range Nice imaging Nice sound stage Great value!!!
Cons: None really. I sure if you spend a lot more you can get better.

Ideal Bookshelf Speakers if you have actual bookshelves!
Crutchfield customer from Lake Forest, CA on 2/9/2020
I ordered these during Black Friday week, took a while to get them hooked up to a move and have now finally had some time with them. I have these matched to the Debut C6.2 center channel and an SVS NSD-SB12 sub. These speakers are powered by a Cambridge CRX120 (plent of power for these). Video is either streamed or from an Oppo BDP-103. Overall, I love this combination! For reference, these are used for video/home theater and audio in the main family room, which is adjacent to our kitchen. The room has bookshelves; so, for once, bookshelf speakers are actually on bookshelves! Huge news here is that the ports are on the front. That's a requirement in this installation case and there aren't many choices that offer this. The good news is that these don't just meet the minimum requirement of front port, but they are fantastic speakers, especially at their price (even more so around Black Friday). I find that these faithfully reproduce everything thrown at them (music or tv/movie material). These are not too bright nor too boomy (receiver crossover point is 80hz, which seems to work well). I have occasionally run these in stereo mode (no sub/no crossover) just to see how they sounded, and they hold up very well. The 6.5-inch drivers are quite capable! Also, I added isolating feet to these to eliminate any rattles on the shelves. I never listened without them, so I can't say how much difference they made. Overall, I'm very, very happy with these!
Pros: Very nicely balanced for movies or music. Front port means can be shelf-mounted. Amazing for the price.
Cons: I haven't found any yet.

After more than a year of ownership, I still have these connected to an aging Yamaha receiver and they are a huge step up from the prior speakers. Very happy with their music playback in all genres I've listened to so far. I'm still not totally satisfied with the imaging when used in home theater when dialogue moves from side thru center to the other side, but that might be the receiver and or lack of center.

A Classic Design Updated

Great sounding speakers set up in the bookshelf configuration for listening to music of all genres. Pair perfectly with classic Adcom GFA-535 smp. Clear transperant sound, good bass for a speaker of this size. Solid construction utilizing quality materials. No need to push to extreme levels as that is not what I require in this setting and wouldn't attempt without a subwoofer and crossover. Competively priced but free shipping with no "lag time" out of the warehouse and excellent customer service from Bear sealed the deal.

Impressed with the sound. Best bookshelf speaker I have ever heard.
Crutchfield customer from Adrian, MI on 1/9/2020
Had Polk bookshelves speakers, which I thought sounded great. They had a back port and were close to the wall so went with these Elac due to the front port design and size of speaker I was looking for. Wow! From the very minute I hooked these up they blew me away. I didnt expect them to sound that much better but I was wrong. If you are going to be putting your speaker on an actual bookshelf close to a wall, you need to give these a try.
Pros: Front port. Solid construction. Clear, flat response
Cons: Cheaper looking grill. I leave mine off though.

Very Nice
Crutchfield customer from New Albany, MS on 1/4/2020
I purchased the ELAC Debut B6.2 speakers as an upgrade to a pair of 1992 Cerwin Vega AT10 floor standing speakers I had purchased new back in the day. Based upon research I had done on bookshelf speakers, I was very excited to receive these. They arrived from Crutchfield only a few days after I ordered, just as promised, and a week before my 64th birthday in July. I hooked them up to a 90s model JVC A/V receiver and I immediately knew I'd made the right decision. The more I played them the better they sounded. A few months later I came upon a Marantz SR 4320 amp in great condition at a re-sale shop for twenty bucks! I brought it home, cleaned it up and hooked the B6.2s up to it. Wow! I now know what audio reviewers mean when they say something sounds "sweet". I listen in a spare bedroom in our home that has become my office, man cave, dog house, and play room. It is small, approximately 10 feet x 12 feet with what some would say, has too much stuff in it. As a consequence, sound is very nicely dispersed which is a good thing, most likely the main thing when listening to music. The B6.2s sit on top of the AT10s and the tweeters are at about ear level when I sit to listen. They are about a foot and a half from the wall and I sit approximately six feet away from them. These dang speakers keep me up too late at night! They sound so good I just don't wont to stop listening!

Selecting a speaker is like walking into a paint store and asking for "white" paint...you are handed a selection sheet of more "whites" than anything imagined. Recommendation and listening is best. However, how do you accomplish this over the internet...Crutchfield does a great job of helping. If you are considering build quality, these speakers are extremely well constructed. Crutchfield recommended these over the Polk I was considering. I already own the Polk S20 and could compare them side by side. To my hearing these speakers handled the bass better and had a better high end--especially on voice. Smooth and effortless for such a small speaker, these would be my choice when listening to either classical, jazz, or jazz singer. Realize these are small; however, they fill the room with sound. You cannot compare them to a three way like the JBL Century 100; but, they hold their presence and handle power well. If you are looking to put them in a small room and drive them with a vintage integrated amp like I am, you will not be disappointed.
Pros: Exceptional bass for a small speaker; power handling very good

A perfect fit
Michael from Elk Grove Village on 11/27/2019
I don't think I would have bought a pair of speakers in the past that I didn't audition first. The sheer number of raves and recommendations for these changed my mind. So I ordered them with a Denon PMA-600 NE amplifier and a couple of sets of the Crutchfield Speaker cables. I first plugged in everything including a Sony FM tuner I had. When I fired it up, I just sat there listening. My new setup replaced a pair of much larger Polk speakers I had purchased decades ago. The sound is so much better than I could have imagined. Everything is clear, the bass is solid and I can sense no coloration to the sound. This is just the right size for a whole lot of people who want to enjoy their music with no additives. When I ran music from my digital files, I was blown away. These are absolutely fabulous. They just deliver the goods.
Pros: Perfect bookshelf size for most folks Crystal clear sound and well-defined bass

Excellent bookshelf speakers
Crutchfield customer from Lutz , FL on 10/15/2019
I am not a professional audiophile so this is a subjective review based on my experience with the speakers and what I think about them personally. This is my first Elac speakers, and before that I had Cambridge Audio Aero 6 towers that were pretty good but lack detail on the top end. With the Elac DEbut 2.0 B6.2, the music experience went to another level. The detail of instruments are well defined, a lot better than the Aero 6. Sound stage is pretty wide and the stereo imaging is fantastic. These are very enjoyable speakers, large and heavy cabinet that for me is a plus for stability and acoustics. I like the design and the quality is pretty good, the price is amazing for what the offer. I have them paired with my Yamaha A-S1100 and the synergy is perfect. I highly recommend these if you appreciate hifi sound and enjoy large stereo imaging, these are a good option.
Pros: Detail, large stereo imaging, instrument separation and a great listening experience. Large bookshelf speakers with pretty good weigh that for me is a plus.
Cons: This is not a con at all, the tweeter is smooth and the top end could be a bit high but fixable by lowering the tone control for the treble. Again, my opinion only, these are fantastic speakers.

I am not an audiophile and have some hearing loss, so this review is very subjective and based on my experience. Wanting to get back into vinyl and actually listening to music, I selected these based on numerous reviews. I paired them with a Denon AVR-S750h with the idea of eventually building a 7.2 system. Purchased an Orbit turntable with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. 1st listen was the remastered Sgt Peppers LP. Incredible sound. Clear, crisp - had to turn it up a bit to get better bass effect (haven't picked out a subwoofer yet). 2nd listen was Traveling Wilburys. Again a great experience. In summary, great speakers at an good price (even at list of 299.99).

If you're looking at bookshelf speakers in the $200-300, just do yourself a favor and try these out. I tried a few different models in that range, mostly from Polk. The b6.2s are just on another level. The sound is so clear and crisp. They have satisfyingly deep and tight bass, something that is important to me as I like dance music. They are a great size and are quite attractive, much moreso in person than in pictures. Don't settle for something else. Seriously.
Pros: Crisp clean mids and highs Tight punchy bass Well built
Cons: Cloth grills feel cheap but are totally unnecessary The cabinet is plain (but not unattractive)

Thanks to Crutchfield for helping me select the right speakers and receiver. I'm sure I could have spent more money and had "slightly" better sound, but the room I'm using these in has high ceiling, lots of windows, and lots of furniture, so I just needed something that would fill up the room without taking up too much space and would be flexible enough to sound great in a room with many challenges.
Pros: Great sound to fill up a good space Value

Happy with my purchase and with Crutchfield
Crutchfield customer from Marblehead, MA on 4/1/2019
I was very hesitant to order speakers online without even listening to them. The whole point of putting together a nice stereo system is to be able to hear good quality sound. It was the positive reviews of others that made me go ahead and order these speakers. It has been almost two weeks now and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I am not an audiophile and can't describe in technical terms what they sound like, but I can hear things very clearly and with a sense of warmth. I run these through an Emotiva TA-100 amp/preamp/DAC/tuner and with a Pro-JectDebut Carbon (DC) turntable, all sitting on top of an old solid wood desk. It all just works well. I must say that the buying experience with Crutchfield was great, with good advice from the salesperson who was able to answer my questions. I like the fact that the folks are knowledgeable and take care of the customer.
Pros: Heavy, solid, quality, sound, clarity
Cons: None

Nice overall sound from these speakers. My receiver has bass-mid-treble tone controls so I can really fine tune them. Coupled with my Polk sub the sound is quite well rounded. I recommend them.
Pros: Nice sounding speakers. Can't beat the price!

After reading the reviews on the Debut 2.0 B6.2 speakers I thought I would give them a try. I thought that they would be decent, but I'm blown away with what these speakers are capable of. The range of sound that these speakers can produce is worthy of speakers twice the costs. I have them setup in a 2 channel stereo arrangement and they're unbelievable. You can't go wrong!
Pros: Sound range and quality. Price.

I have been looking for a quality set of bookshelf speakers for a while all the reviews had Elac Debut 2.0 in them I spoke with Crutchfield advisor and decided to make my purchase. At First I thought they would be much larger but dont let the size fool you they have a good low end . The mids are stable through increased volume and the highs are bright and clear. Great Speaker for the Money!

Andrew Jones did good here. Wow. Pulls way above its class!
Vincent from Antioch, TN on 3/19/2019
I needed a bookshelf do it all speaker, and I didn't want to spend allot. In steps in the Elacs here by Andrew Jones of Pioneer Speaker fame, and other high end makes he designed. This man knows what he is doing. I have been in high end forever, these I will tell you are it. Spend more sure. But if you haven't checked these out for the money, wow, you are missing out. Honest and clear articulate midrange, smooth easy highs. Even with my Onkyo TX-RZ820, it dances well. My bass response is my next goal. Would like a Subwoofer to finish off the bottom octaves of the music or movie event. These just image so well, and they are so friendly on the ears. No harshness in the mid treble as I always get scared about. Calibrated with the Onkyo's Auto Cal system, and it brought out the highs a bit more, bass stayed the same, and midrange is more forward but not in a painful way at all. Pretty easy drive for most amplifiers. This will get along great. 6 ohm load is nominal. Even a modest receiver or integrated will go great with these. I am wondering about a Tube amplifier like the Prima Luna. Holy Cow this would be epic. Construct is what I expect for this price. Nothing special. The Vinyl box and squared sharp corners make no illusions this is a value product. I am fine with that because inside is where the effort was spent. So who is this for? Everyone. I cannot see any application this speaker would not please. Easy to get along with in the whole spectrum.
Pros: Clarity, great imaging, easy to get along size.
Cons: A bit more bass would be nice. You want at least a small Subwoofer to create a richer fuller experience.

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2
John from Miami, FL on 3/3/2019
The goal was to go from a passive Klipsch floor standing speaker which after more than five years left me desiring something a little less bright in the high note category. After several purchases and returns with Crutchfield I came across these babies . It is difficult to put into words the harmonic balance the Elac posses . I use a Marantz integrated amplifier ( 70w x 2 ) to power the bookshelves. Listen to warm analog sound on records I collected and don't want to get off the couch. They are that good . Play CDs on an Oppo media player and I'm in a different world altogether. There is that much of a difference. But it's a good difference. This is my happy place , the ElACs help me get there . I hope you enjoy the ride as well .
Pros: Extremely balanced . Not too high , just enough bass . Fill the room musically with a problem. .
Cons: Non that I can think of .

Really Good Speaker
sdtx from San Diego on 1/25/2019
As the title says, these are really good speakers. I was lucky enough to audition them at an actual audio shop locally a while back, and knew that for what I wanted (stereo setup), and what I was able to pay, these Elacs were perfect. I missed the sales on these but I'm not regretting paying the full price. To my ears this is a very neutral and balanced speaker. They put out exactly what you put through them. If your used to a more 'bright' sounding high end or bass with a little 'boom', then these might not be for you. Make no mistake - they will play loud. I have them paired with an Emotiva TA-100 that I figure puts out around 70 watts into 6 ohms and together the system sounds fantastic. Highly recommended.
Pros: Excellent sound. Great value even at normal price. Build quality is top notch.
Cons: None for me, but some might find the aesthetics a little plain. No shiny baffle, rounded corners, or multi-layered lacquered finish. They remind me of a pair of mid-eighties B&W bookshelf speaker I owned back in the day.

These speakers were a replacement for the KEF Q 150,s that I returned because I was not impressed at all by them. When shopping online for a replacement, I found a good deal on some open boxes. The reviews were overly praising and I took that into consideration in my purchase. I was impressed with the ELACs overall sound and construction. The ELACs are a good value purchase even at the full price, a very good deal open box. Are there better sounding speakers out there, yes, but not at this price, I don't think.
Pros: Value good sound

Dumbfounded
Dan from Boston, MA on 1/9/2019
I still can't believe how amazing these speakers sound. I had been hearing about them since the first Debut line, but thought that mostly non-audiophiles were buying them to use in home theater set up's (fine btw) and they weren't for serious 2 channel listening. i've connected these to a Musical Fidelity M6i integrated (200 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms) and Harman Kardon 730 twin powered stereo receiver and they leave me dumbfounded. I have many high end speakers and have caught myself listening to these more lately. Not bad for the price during the pre-Christmas sale. Thanks Andrew Jones and Crutchfield.
Pros: Tight bass Nice mid-range Tweeter goes beyond listening levels, but that's a good thing
Cons: None

Unbelievably good sound, considerining the modest price. They are both techinically good - smooth frequency respone, detailed, etc - plus so musical - involving, draw you into the performance, tap your foot/bob your head, for all types of music. The front port helps to have a wide range of placements.
Pros: Sound, sound, sound.
Cons: Unusual binding posts that will not work with the normal wrenches, are difficult to tighten. Taller than most of this type of speaker.

Great product, great service
Erle from Norridgewock, ME on 1/8/2019
I stumbled on the half-off sale for these speakers completely by accident. I was reconstructing a small sound system in one room of my house, and the speakers I salvaged from another old system were crap. I decided to buy a set as a semi-delayed Christmas present for me and my wife, and hit Crutchfield at the tail end of the sale. I checked the specs and reviews, and these Elacs blew everything else out of the water, and the price was unbeatable. I ordered them Christmas night (Wednesday), and got a call from Crutchfield the next morning (!) to confirm my address, and received them on Friday. They are INCREDIBLE for the money. Very compact, so they fit where I needed them to fit; astonishing bass for unpowered bookshelf speakers; and beautifully clear highs. I'm amazed by the super quick turnaround and by the reach-out from customer service when normal people are fighting a hangover. Great product, great service.
Pros: size, sonic range, clarity

Great speakers for the money.
Frank from Williamsville, NY on 1/1/2019
These are great speakers for the money. I also got on sale - a fantastic value. Wish I could give 4.5 stars. I bought these for my 24 yr. old son who has a good job and wanted to put together his first real music system. We assembled and auditioned a group of 4 passive and 2 powered designs on music, video games and as a 2.1 audio system for movies. We both decided that the passive designs with an integrated amp was our preferred set up both for sound quality, feature set, future growth, versatility etc. These were the second cheapest retail and THE cheapest price paid of the entire group but they rose right to the top as far as performance for the buck as tested. It really came down to a choice between these and another passive design which we both thought actually sounded a bit better but lacked low end and really needed a sub for his intended use and music style. Also at 4ohm they needed a better more powerful amp to drive well and they were more than twice the cost paid. For the allocated budget, he made what I feel is the right choice - Elac 2.0 B6.s speakers and with the money saved was able to get a very nice full featured 2-channel 50wpc class A/B integrated amp with Bluetooth capability and sub-out for the same money as some of the speakers alone. Sounds great! Smart kid. I have to thank Crutchfield who supplied 2 of the 6 samples. Great product selection, generous shipping/trial policies and awesome support.
Pros: Quality, full range, room filling sound. Front port so can be used in tight spaces or actually on a shelf if necessary. Price/performance value.
Cons: For the money paid? - None.

Excellent Speakers
Crutchfield customer from Duncan, SC on 12/24/2018
I'm currently using these with a Yamaha R-S202 stereo receiver for music listening. For the price, these are excellent speakers. Very clear, great soundstage, and well balanced. Initially I had paired them with an old home-theater-in-a-box receiver and was a bit underwhelmed by the low range, but I figured out that the receiver was trying to send the low range to a subwoofer that I didn't have connected (and it wasn't adjustable due to being a home-theater-in-a-box setup). So I bought the R-S202 stereo receiver and immediately heard the difference in bass. No need for a subwoofer, unless you really want it to thump. From low to high, these speakers sound very clear, natural, and balanced. A couple of things to note: I've read from multiple sources that these speakers like lots of power and I would have to agree. They sound really good with the R-S202, but the higher the volume the better they sound and I'll be looking to move up to a nicer amp in the future. Also, they are kind of plain looking, especially with the covers on. But I wanted great sound for a good price and they deliver perfectly on that.
Pros: Clarity, soundstage, value
Cons: None for the price

Could be your first and last speaker
Tommy from Greenville, NC on 12/24/2018
My first "proper" stereo speaker (previously had some open box home theater speakers) and it may possibly be my last. Also had the matching open box subwoofer with my old speakers, no need for that any more! You get a speaker that images well, has good tight bass and is super clear. Voices sound like voices in the room, not a speaker playing the voice. The front port allows me to put the speakers close to the front wall. As an entry audiophile speaker, there is no downside, beside possibly the finish. I think the speaker looks good when up in the room, but there are more attractive speakers out there for sure. I mainly listen to rock, blues, country and bluegrass, and these speakers cross every box. I don't think you need a sub unless you want the deep, deep home theater rumble, but for music, it's perfect. All of this is coming from cheap sources and electronics, so I'm looking forward to upgrading those to get even better performance. Also putting them up on Pangea speaker stands improved their performance. Buy these now!
Pros: Clear, images well, easy to drive, great bass, easy placement
Cons: None

Great all around (slightly above entry level) speakers
Mike from Columbus, OH on 12/9/2018
Great soundstage, good bass - enough so that depending on your usage you may not need a sub. Very solid midrange and clear but not piercing highs. Great well rounded speaker. Using for music and movies/tv. Seem well built, nice heavy feel. Heavy enough that if you're not using stands you'll want to get some foam or at least silicone/rubber feet to separate them from the surface they're on - that cleared up the bass and midrange a lot. Not very pretty but that's secondary. Take the grills off if you can, seems like there's a lot of plastic material in the grill that can't be doing any good for the sound.
Pros: Soundstage, build quality, well rounded sound profile
Cons: Not the prettiest. No real cons.

significant second generation speakers
Crutchfield customer from Springville, UT on 12/7/2018
The B6.2 is a significant improvement in refinement over the first generation B6. Lows are much less boomy, highs are much less shouty though still a little bright for my taste, resolution & coherence & off-axis performance is better, overall a smoother integration of all the elements. Were the original B6 3 times better than the Pioneer BS22? Maybe for some people, but I didn't think so. It was much easier to nit-pick. At the sale price the value is off the charts and for the money it is very difficult to find any faults. Bravo ELAC and Andrew Jones!
Pros: Great value for the money.
Cons: Not the best lookers if you want to use them with the grills off.

Sound separation of voices and music is very good, nice sound stage, surprisingly good bass and clarity makes this a great speaker for the price you pay. I picked these Elac speakers to replace a pair of Energy pro 4.5s. I wanted something a bit newer and more compact. I have not fully broken these in but have observed a couple of things. Of course my view is subjective. Initially, right out of the box, I was not impressed at all. I was ready to repack them and send them back. However after just a few days of listening my view has changed dramatically. These are good, in fact very good. Not great, but very good. I took note of a few things early on. These don't sound the least bit boxy. They are quite open for this price point. I feel that the speakers are as open as they can possibly be considering this. The treble is somewhat bright, however that could be a product of the amp. The base is very tight, lacking slightly in the very low frequencies. Not at all muddy or boomy. The separation is excellent and the sound stage is placed well. Placement can affect this of course. Where these shine the most for me so far is vocals. The 1k range on these rivals many speakers that I have heard for 10 times the price. I caught these on sale a Crutchfield for half off. If you can get these for anywhere near that price, grab them and hold a couple doors open until you need them
Pros: really good for a small investment These do a lot of things very well excellent vocals not fatiguing
Cons: binding posts are a bit difficult to work with possibly a tad bright up top

Great sound for price. Re-run your receivers equalizer for best sound
David from Woodbridge, CT on 11/29/2018
The ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 is a very good compact speaker for the price. It's not perfect ... but few compact speakers are "perfect". Also, please remember to re-run your receiver's equalizer setup. It makes a big difference. I purchased my Onyko A/V receiver from Crutchfield several years ago, and it included the Audyssey equalizer and reference mic and a very easy-to-use setup. I needed to downsize my front speakers because of space restrictions. I hated to ... they were high-end Infinity 6 Kappa large floor standing 3-way speakers with a 10" woofer, 6" midrange, and the famous Infinity ribbon tweeter. This was combined with a 650w Polk 15" sub-woofer, Mirage center speaker, and Nanostat rear satellites. The 6 Kappas are excellent, and somewhat bright due to the ribbon tweeter, but were equalized using the Audyssey equalizer. When I first disconnected the 6 Kappas and plugged in the ELAC B6.2 ... I was very disappointed. I have the Celine Dion concert DVD "A New Day" which has a great sound 5.1 soundtrack ... and I saw the concert live in Las Vegas. Initially, the ELACs had no high end, and sounded muddy. Then I realized that I was playing the ELAC's using the 6 Kappa's equalization profile! The 6 Kappas are very bright and have a lot of base and the 6 Kappa equalizer profile actually turned down the high-frequency bands and much of the woofer. This was not appropriate for the ELAC B6.2. When I re-equalized for the ELAC it was night-and-day.
Pros: Good sound from compact speaker. Excellent voice reproduction and imaging.
Cons: No rubber feet (so just add them) Connectors could be recessed a bit more so banana plugs would not stick out of the back as much.

Not even close to original ELAC Debut
Dan from San Francisco, CA on 11/28/2018
Not as good as the original Debut. Treble is super forward, exposing bad recordings -- and making placement trickier. Bass ports on the front don't do much, when the tweeter has so many nodes. Bass is not nearly as forward as original. The best strength of the original Debut speakers was that they gave music appropriate weight, and punched way above their price point in terms of making it seem like the music has oomph. Taking measurements, the speakers had very little sound under 200hz. This leaves almost the lower two octaves of music out. Debut 2.0 speakers are more analytical and not as fun. If you liked the original Debut speakers, these are completely different. About me: Have designed OEM car stereos that have sold hundreds of thousands of units. Tested with iPhone XS --> Hafler power amp --> Debut 2.0 Mac Mini --> Emotiva XPS pre-amp --> Hafler power amp --> Debut 2.0 Mac Mini --> Peachtree Decco pre-amp --> McIntosh power amp --> Debut 2.0 Lack of bass was not due to lack of power!
Pros: Incredibly clear voices Present upper-midrange.
Cons: Surprising lack of bass - drops bottom two octaves Treble so present it exposes errors in a recording.

Impressive in so many ways
bob from Savannah GA on 10/26/2018
I have the original B6 and the B6.2 and I love them. They're absolutely not the same speaker, AJ redesign truly made a difference. The originals have a slightly more colored sound but they're marvelous speakers and when they first appeared they couldn't be beaten by anything in that price range. Enter the B6.2 and wow, it's amazing. The price point makes this a winner by any standard that's a fact. What's even better is that this is a richer, more detailed sounding speaker than it's older brother and it has an even better top end. The tweeter redesign is impressive. When listening to music with brass or string content, the clarity and detail that these speakers produce is just amazing. Surprisingly they also have a low end that's capable of punching percussion and deeper rumbles. They're a great all around speaker and when given some power they can produce room filling sound that's entirely musical. I use mine in an Atmos system so along with music they have to be capable of imaging and large amounts of movie sound effects. They're entirely up to the task of creating anything that the studios can throw at them. For the first time in my life I can watch a popcorn munching big adventure movie with explosions galore and never hear a moment of distortion. Then I can put on a movie that's nothing but dialogue and it's just as smooth and easily heard as though it were live. The vocal reproduction is deft and subtle and nothing like a the bigger hammer appr
Pros: Crystal clarity and punching bass. Works equally well in Atmos movies and in music. Gob-smacking volume when driven properly.
Cons: If a deeply beautiful cabinet with a piano type finish is important to you then keep looking. These aren't exceptional looking speakers. They're nicely finished but not show pieces. Not a con to my thinking but be aware that they aren't light and should be placed with good support.

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2

I bought these Elacs for the spare bedroom stereo. I won't pretend I'm a golden ear professional reviewer who can describe how the Elac performs in different frequencies, in the highs, midrange, or lows, but I'll say that at first listen out of the box, I was very impressed with its clarity, tonal balance and bass output for a speaker selling at this price point. I switched back and forth between the Elacs and a my B & W 805S speakers. On CDs I was familiar with, the B & Ws had deeper bass, even though the Elac's spec claim a lower frequency spec. The 805s were more detailed and had more ambience in the midrange and highs. It's important to remember the Elacs were not broken in and that these were my first impressions straight out of the box. Also, the B & Ws cost almost 10 times, weighs twice as much (~ 13# vs. 26#, more bracing?), and were broken in. I will say that the Elacs are very impressive and a bargain for the price. If you Google search reviews on this model you will find several positive reviews saying that it's surprisingly a very good speaker. For the money, I think these would be really hard to beat. An excellent value and an affordable solid entry into the audiophile world. I'm basing my rating on these points.
Pros: Excellent value for the money. Sonically a well balanced speaker.

Great speakers and great value
Thomas from Mount Pleasant, SC on 9/26/2018
These speakers are a great value! I did research online prior to purchasing and they were consistently rated very highly. They are well constructed and sound amazing! I upgraded from small Energy Take Classic speakers and the difference in sound quality, sound stage, and detail is tremendous! I highly recommend these speakers. The representatives at Crutchfield are very knowledgeable and always happy to provide advice and assistance without aggressively trying to make a sale. Great experience!
Pros: Detail Warmth of Sound Price

Joseph F from Live Oak, TX on 9/19/2018
I heard very positive reviews on these speakers and decided to try them. I bought a 65" LG OLED and Polk speakers from Crutchfield last year and wanted to update my side speakers. I've been using the ELAC Debut 2.0 speakers for several weeks and they sound great. I'm very pleased with the purchase.
Pros: Sound great
Cons: Replaced a pair of Kenwood KL-777DX speakers I bought in 1969. I still love the Kenwoods.

Excellent, clear highs and mid-range. Vocals could be a little better. The imaging is good but could be detailed. The bass is deep for a bookshelf speaker. I would recommend.
Pros: A very bright speaker, good deails and bass
Cons: Bass becomes muddy and vibrates the cabinet at higher volume.

Well balanced, excellent speakers
Ted from Schuykl Havn, PA on 7/22/2018
This is a well designed and impressive speaker. I had been looking for a set of two way speakers with woofers between 6 and 8 inches. Frustratingly, recent designs give you either a small bookshelf speaker badly in need of a sub, or tower speakers. I was looking for speaker that could perform across a wide range without needing a sub in many uses (granted a sub is always an improvement). My first desire was an 8 inch woofer. Very few of the newer bookshelf speakers can do that. These ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 speakers produce a very full sound across the frequency range. The 6.5 inch woofers perform excellently. High, mid and low frequencies were quite balanced and pleasing. I have been using them with an older (read excellent sounding) receiver/amp in stereo music applications and for viewing TV. I was quickly impressed. I attempted using them without a break-in period and was surprised at how well the bass was produced (I did later sent time to ensure proper break-in). These can be used in stereo music with pleasing results or as part of a theater set-up. I have used them as the front speakers with pleading results. They would be excellent for side or rear surround. I am somewhat embarrassed to give a completely positive review, but the design is excellent and sound was exactly what I was seeking.
Pros: -Very well balanced sound -Bass exceeded my expectations -Minimal break-in -Very useful as main stereo speakers -Can be used in a variety of theater applications
Cons: -Connectors are a bit difficult to tighten for my fingers

Great sound!
Crutchfield customer from Lk Forest Pk, WA on 7/3/2018
The reviews speak the truth! No question these are amazing speakers for the price. Good midrange, hi highs, and impressive bass for their size. Vocal clarity is descent. I had them in my smallish bedroom and they were more than adequate, and I hadn't bought the center or sub yet. Powered them with the denon 1400 no problem. However, (and I realize this is a big step up in price, not just for the UB5s (+$200) but also for the appropriate receiver/power supply) BUT if you can step up to the Uni-Fi UB5s like I did you'll notice the next level performance and wont look back. The veil that lingers over the entire soundstage of the B6.2s is lost and true Hi-Fi clarity and imaging is revealed with the UB5s. If you're a novice to home audio like myself with a limited budget ($1000-1200) for a system and are looking for some "future proofing", I think it's worth stepping up for the UB5s initially with the intent to upgrade the receiver later on. After all, given the quick improvements in home theater and the fact that power is getting cheaper every year, I'm sure I'll get another reciever/power supply before I need new speakers. One could also argue that for $1200 you could get a full Elac debut system, be done and still have amazing sound for the price. Either way I think you'd be happy, I just like to tinker (aka spend money). Huge thanks to Crutchfield for their patience and amazing, honest tech support. It's because of them I found the perfect system:)

So close but .
Roberto from Longmont, CO on 6/7/2018
Took about 25hrs to break in. They sounded very cupped n flat then they came alive. Highs especially. Bass is tight n tune full. But not wide n deep. Lived with vonshwiekers vr1s for 13 years. Love their all around sound. They are in my home theater n I have them in all around me. I was hoping to get as close to that sound with the elacs. Big price difference. So I didn't expect that same level of sound. But the elacs can't do low level presentation or play all music to my satisfaction. Hearing box n driver coloration especially with jazz guitar. Also with piano notes. But for the price they are killer speakers. If ur going to build a not so large home theater system n can't afford much more expensive speakers. Go with these. I'm going to have to spend 2 or 3 times more to get where I want to be. My 2 CH system is Belle's reference 150 v2 . tascam CD player, project pre boxs2 DAC. Signal cables n powe cords . power company AC conditioner.room 13 by 16.
Pros: Sound nice at high level with bright recording.
Cons: Low level sound is life less. Box n driver coloration with electric guitar or some piano notes.

Simply awesome speakers!
Josh from Mountain View, CA on 6/2/2018
Simply awesome speakers! I used them to replace my old Samsung HTIB front L/R speakers in my home theatre setup, along with a Denon X3400H AVR. The sound of rock music, classical, Blu-ray movies, spoken word -- really shines. I've definitely experienced less balanced & lower quality sound from much more expensive speakers (listen up, Bose lovers)! The Debut 2.0's are spot-on. I couldn't be happier!!! Big cheers to Andrew Jones & the folks at ELAC!
Pros: Well-balanced image Deep, rich bass Gorgeous sound! Great price point Solid, powerful design
Cons: Can't think of any!

DEFINITE buy- Should trump any other non-essential purchase.
Bill from Eastern Shore, MD on 5/25/2018
You can stop looking for speakers. I've owned the B6 original. It's awesome. It has a laid back tweeter that I struggled with for a while because I'm used to sharper highs. Not quality wise- that was totally fine, just the freq. rolls off after 10K. So I've got the 2.0 now. AJ definitely listened to the critics because he put in this SWEET black rolled dome that extends to 35K? More importantly its NICE- and it goes low, somewhere around 800 to 1000 hz. Compared to the original this is a forward, brighter speaker. In general its a bit north of neutral for sure. Casual Clinical is the made up word that comes to mind. Mids and Lows are are good. Last generation had better low end, but it was also a PITB rear ported box. Mids better on this. Highs too x20. The imaging though. Dat imaging. It's the best I've owned. The waveguide on the tweeter makes a large sweet spot- you can definitely enjoy these off axis. When I got a whiff of the imaging these things were putting out I didn't think it was "good for the money". The imaging is good enough to make you unsure which speaker is projecting what into the center. A lot of time went into that engineering. Low volume playback is good; balanced bass retention good. High volume playback is a 10/10 without a price tag. No distortion. The room falls apart before the drivers do. These speakers need a LOT of power if you want it all. 100 watts per C for headroom. Buy them and
Pros: -The sound is excellent -The imaging is the best I've owned -Good bass response -Blends easily with a subwoofer (can be used stand alone) -Sophisticated, grown up aesthetic -High volume rock and roll speaker -Lower volumes you can be pretty critical. I've flattened the response and it sounds as it should. I like it as it as tho- minus the room EQ. It's easy enough to listen to forever. -Upgraded construction with bracing. -You become 46% cooler owning these.
Cons: There REALLY aren't any cons on this- even the compromises of both Debut series is spoken about by A. Jones. A possible issue for someone though would be that this speaker is more detailed than the previous gen. This means poorly recorded or mixed tracks will sound like absolute trash. You will hear the nastiness of modern mixing that's optimized for bluetooth speakers. 80s super aluminum treble boost? That's there too so be careful with that dial.

Outstanding speakers with particularly strong bass response. I have them mounted on brackets near the ceiling, right up against the wall. The front port allows them to really deliver the low-end and I have a subwoofer in my system, as well. Good mids with excellent clarity and very smooth top end. I use these speakers mostly for listening to my own mixes from my home studio and they have served me well for the month I've been using them. So far, so good!
