Jennifer Coolidge, 60, reveals she used cocaine so heavily in the Eighties she was rushed to the ER several times causing her to go to rehab at 27: 'I was going nowhere fast, it's a terrible drug'

Jennifer Coolidge is on the hit show White Lotus which has refreshed her 40 year career. And the beauty, 60, appreciates her return to the limelight after breaking out with Legally Blonde in 2001.

In the March issue of InStyle the star reveals that at one point she did not think she would make it as an actress because of her problems with addiction.

The actress told the publication when she was in her twenties living in New York City she was a user who liked cocaine as she went to clubs like Limelight.

She as deep into the 1980s New York party scene. 'Palladium, Limelight, Area, Save the Robots, all those clubs,' said the star of 2 Broke Girls.

'I was going nowhere fast,' added the siren from Boston, Massachusetts.

Jennifer said she was drawn to cocaine because she was 'born low-energy.' Coolidge added: 'So there was this drug that was invented for people like me. It made me very alive, you know? 

'Unfortunately, it's a terrible drug,' the A Cinderella Story star added.

Several times Coolidge ended up in the emergency rooms which made her rethink her drug of choice. At the age of 27, Coolidge checked into a rehab facility in Minnesota.

Jennifer also shared that when she started out she wanted to be taken seriously as a dramatic actress but could not reach her emotions.

When a pal saw her imitate her classmates, it was suggested she try comedy, which she did, signing up with Gotham City Improv.

The star has had some big highs in her career (Legally Blonde and Best In Show).

And her future looks bright: Coolidge is also set to reteam with White Lotus director Mike White for a second season and with Reese Witherspoon for Legally Blonde 3. 

But during the pandemic she too a break and hid out in Louisiana.

And she let herself eat what she wanted.

'We had stacks of pizzas in the freezer,' said the star of her time in her  house in New Orleans.

She was living with an assistant, and thought the world was ending.

'Every time we were trying to make a decision about what to eat, starting at 8 a.m., we'd say, "Should we just do the pizza?"'

Then came White Lotus.

'The floodgates have opened. It's a completely different realm now — a lot of really interesting stuff,' she shared.

She knows better now: Jennifer said she was drawn to cocaine because she was 'born low-energy.' Coolidge added: 'So there was this drug that was invented for people like me. It made me very alive, you know? Unfortunately, it's a terrible drug,' the star added. Seen in early February

Next is The Watcher then Shotgun Wedding, co-starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel.

But what she really wants to do is play the back girl: 'I would love to play someone really horrible. What a gift that would be. Someone who is just rotten to the core.'

The Hollywood vet also said of her InStyle shoot: 'This was sort of a Kate Middleton fantasy [shoot]. I think she's a beautiful and very sexy woman, but when you're a future queen and everything, you have to contain your sexuality in public.

'When those big parties are over and Kate is saying goodbye to the last guests, I bet she sometimes goes into the castle and just takes off all her clothes and starts dancing.'

Last month Coolidge credited Ariana Grande with revitalizing her career.

The actress has insisted the '7 Rings' hitmaker's impressions of her years ago on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon got the ball 'rolling.'

Appearing on the show she told the host: 'You should know, it was sort of the beginning of a lot of cool things that happened for me.

So popular! The star recently did an Uber Eats ad that played off her Legally Blonde role

'I was going through a dead zone, not much was going on. Then Ariana did this imitation on your show and you encouraged her. And then this ball got rolling.'

The star admitted she initially didn't want to send Ariana a message about the imitation because she was certain she wouldn't get a reply.

She added: 'My friend who is her age, Theresa, she was like, You should DM Ariana.'

'I thought it was such a good imitation and I was like, "No, she’s got like 260 million followers. Those are robots. The robots answer the DMs! We will never ever get to her." And I did it anyway and then this response came back. Next thing you know, I was going to her house getting fit for wardrobe for [the video for Ariana's 2018 single] Thank U Next. That was all because of Jimmy Fallon.'
