Check mate! Arrow star Willa Holland shows off her superhero figure as she bares her toned midriff in chic monochrome ensemble

She was born into a showbiz family and appeared on our TV screens at the tender age of 14 as Kaitlin Cooper in the cult TV show, The OC.

But now at 21, Willa Holland is all grown up, and making a name for herself in the new superhero series Arrow.

In a new spread for Wonderland magazine, the young star shows off her more mature side as she bares her toned midriff in a monochrome ensemble.

The pretty brunette, who stars as Thea Queen in the CW Network action-adventure, looks chic and fashion forward in a black and white checked long-sleeve top and matching trousers.

With her hair out in soft waves and minimal make-up on her complexion, the blue-eyed chameleon certainly has the looks which have also helped her have successful career as a model.

In an interview with the magazine, the starlet says living in Hollywood her whole life has forced her to grow up very quickly.

Willa was born into a Hollywood family - her mother Darnell De Palma was an actress and father Keith Holland is a cinematographer.

Her stepfather is Brian De Palma, famed director of films such as Scarface and Mission Impossible, and also introduced Willa to talent agencies at the age of seven.

'I do get called an old soul a lot,' she tells the magazine. 'I think that living in Hollywood my whole life has helped honed that. I've dealt with a lot in my 21 years.'

Willa first broke onto the acting scene playing Kaitlin, the devious little sister of Marissa, played by Mischa Barton, in The OC.

The actress tells the magazine she could relate to her character during the time she played her on the teen series.

'I think I was right there in that stage of life where Kaitlin was,' she says. 'It was very obvious to me why I got cast in that role at that time.'

After her stint on The OC, Willa starred in several movies, including Micheal Winterbottom's Genova, in which she played Colin Firth's daughter.

She also appeared in Middle Of Nowhere alongside Susan Sarandon and her daughter Eva Amurri, as well as Legion with Paul Bettany.

Willa then went on to score a part in Gossip Girl, playing a bratty model Agnes Andrew.

But by the time she turned 20, Willa says she already needed a break.

'I was literally non-stop for three or four years from about (the age of 14) to about 18, 19 and then right before I turned 20 I was like "I need a break,"' she tells Wonderland.

The actress took a year off during which she says she reverted back to being a teenager.

'I spent a lot of time putting myself back into being a kid again. I had been forcing myself to grow up a lot,' she explains.

Spending time with her school friends in San Diego, Willa says she 'would skate every day. I'd take photos every day, we'd play music all night, barbecue, be together, have good times and it was just awesome.'

She also explored her musical side and recorded 'Pretty Sweet Song' and has since been working on covers and original songs, which she will eventually release on SoundCloud.

Following her sabbatical, Willa threw herself right back into work and is now taking aim at fame as Thea Queen in the new superhero series, Arrow.

The young star is in the midst of filming the second half of the first series where she plays the younger supportive sister of Oliver, but she says she has not quite thrown herself into the fight scenes just yet.

'We want to develop the characters for a nice length of time,' she explains. 'Before we take them out of this world and throw them into another.'

The talent off screen in Arrow is just as impressive as its leading stars with executive producers Greg Berlanti (Brothers and Sisters), Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern), Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe) and David Nutter (Smallville).
