Danam Nagender clears air on future

Danam Nagender made it clear that his loyalties lie with the Congress, and TRS bait won’t lure him
Hyderabad: Ending his silence on his future role in the party, City Congress president and former minister Danam Nagender on Thursday said he will remain in the Congress and work to ensure that it wins a majority of the seats in the GHMC polls.
After a prolonged meeting with his followers in the city at his residence, Mr Nagender denied reports he would be joining the TRS.
“It’s a fact that TRS leaders are after me, it’s quite common for a ruling party. I was offered several things but I don’t want to leave the party,” he told newsmen.
Alleging some Congress leaders are trying to “suffocate him” so that he leaves the party, Mr Nagender said he was a senior leader compared to any of the present leaders, and enjoys immense clout in city politics.
He also said he was in touch with Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Uttam Kumar Reddy.
However, Mr Nagender emphasised that he, as City Congress president, commands power over all the 150 divisions in GHMC limits that come under Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, not just the 100 divisions in Hyderabad as his detractors are claiming.
Meanwhile, TRS leaders continue to claim that Mr Nagender will join their party.
