Rise and Fall: Meet the contestants on Greg James' new show

Rise and Fall is a new Channel 4 game show hosted by Greg James and from the makers of The Traitors.
The game will see 16 ordinary British people, from all walks of life, compete to win up to £100,000. They start as equals but soon find themselves either in a position of power as a Ruler or as a powerless Grafter. While the Rulers live in a luxury penthouse, the Grafters must survive in basic conditions in the basement. And much like life, those in power will be responsible for making decisions that affect those who have none.

Ali
Age: 45
From: Essex
Occupation: Entrepreneur
Ali is a hard-working businessman who owns a number of successful businesses and is well known in Essex for his restaurants, which have become celebrity hot spots.
Cheryl
Age: 40
From: Liverpool
Occupation: Trainee nurse
Now a mature student, Cheryl was previously a support worker, working with both adults and children.
Connor
Age: 27
From: Kent
Occupation: Care home manager
Connor started volunteering in the care sector at the age of 16 and always knew it was what he wanted to do when he left school. He now works with the elderly and people with disabilities.
Edmund
Age: 27
From: Devon
Occupation: Account manager
Edmund comes from one of Britain’s oldest aristocratic families. He leads an ordinary life and says he’s someone who can find common ground with anyone.
Jack
Age: 28
From: Hertfordshire
Occupation: Builder
Jack works in construction and plays semi-professional football. If he were to win the prize fund, he’d take his mum on a luxury holiday.
James
Age: 26
Occupation: Employment coach
James works as an employment coach but is also passionate about fitness and runs fitness classes.
Jeff
Age: 69
From: London
Occupation: Entrepreneur
Jeff is an East End boy at heart. He began working at Sotheby’s in the 1970s before setting up his art dealership, and is best known for his role on Channel 4’s Four Rooms. Today, he oversees and runs eight businesses.
Joanna
Age: 50
From: Suffolk
Occupation: Interior designer
Joanna grew up in Suffolk but spent time at her grandparents’ stately home. When the pandemic affected her interior design work, she went to Greece for a big adventure.
Marina
Age: 18
From: London
Occupation: Receptionist
Marina lives at home with her parents. She recently dropped out of university to follow her dream of becoming an actor. She currently works as a receptionist.
Matt
Age: 32
From: The Midlands
Occupation: Nurse
Matt has dedicated his career to helping the most vulnerable members of society but, after over a decade on the frontline, is becoming increasingly frustrated with social policy.
Prince
Age: 39
From: Hertfordshire
Occupation: Postal worker
Born and raised in Sierra Leone, Prince describes his upbringing as challenging but believes that, although harsh, it has set him up for success.
Rachel
Age: 27
From: London
Occupation: Influencer
Rachel is an identical twin who specialises in fashion and beauty content creation. She says if she has to she’ll put on an act to get herself to the top.
Ramona
Age: 34
From: Born in Germany, raised in London.
Occupation: CEO
Ramona credits moving from Munich to London as a child and having to learn a new language with sparking her desire to work hard and excel in the business world. She is now CEO of numerous hospitality and tech businesses.
Rishika
Age: 26
From: Birmingham
Occupation: Communications officer
Rishika grew up without great wealth, which she says made her understand the value of money and the need to earn nice things. Rishika runs a charity helping people who live in shoe poverty.
Sophie
Age: 21
From: Essex
Occupation: Politics student
A member of the Young Conservatives, Sophie is outspoken about her political views and is a regular commentator in the national media. She is also a keen footballer.
Sydney
Age: 24
From: West Lothian, Scotland
Occupation: Delivery driver
As well as working as a delivery driver, single mum Sydney is studying for a law degree with a view to working in the human rights sector.
Deputy Picture Editor, Digital Spy
Andrea has 20 years' experience working in print and digital media.
She started out as an intern at ELLE magazine and has worked on the picture desk of numerous national magazines such as Red, Reveal, Now, Woman and Women's Weekly before making the switch to digital and then joining Digital Spy.
