Chace Crawford has revealed which Gossip Girl character he would like to play in the forthcoming 'reboot'.

Last month, it was revealed the series would be getting a revival of sorts on HBO Max, with Gossip Girl producer Josh Schwartz quick to clarify that the new show will be a spin-off of sorts and a "continuation of that world".

And, speaking recently on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Chace revealed that he would love to return to the show and play "a father".

Worryingly, he really is old enough...

Speaking about the reboot, Chace said: "No-one called me – I was really upset about it.

"I'm teasing, it's great. I could maybe come back and play a father. It'd be nice."

His comments come after Chase told Digital Spy that he would "absolutely cameo" in the new series and that he would also be open to an actual Gossip Girl revival.

"I don't know what it would look like with us being in our 30s now, but I always say, because it was such a big part of my life, I'm open to anything," he said.

"It would have to be really right, and really specific, and with TV and the golden age of the TV streaming service, maybe an eight-episode season..."

He added: "It would be very tough to get everybody on board I think because of their schedules, Penn [Badgley], Leighton [Meester], Ed [Westwick]... They're all doing really good TV shows.

"It would be hard I think [to get them all together]."
