"Earthlings" is a conglomerate of dances and reflections performed entirely outdoors about being an earthling - an earthling. The dance piece attempts to reframe the relationship of humans to the non-human in their immediate environment. "Earthlings" looks for ways to relate to the ecosystem. City and nature are not understood as opposites, but as equal parts of a larger whole, the ecosystem. Urban space is then also natural space, which of course includes non-human inhabitants of the earth such as plants. "Earthlings" explores human and non-human activity in a shared environment. Outside of the conventional theater space, the "unplugged" outdoor performance uses daylight instead of spotlights and dispenses with speakers and stage props in the spirit of a more sustainable performance practice.
