Zooey Deschanel is fully on our side, and in a recent Instagram video, she can be seen sipping on a yummy and chilly concoction. Deschanel—alongside The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Crystal Kung Minkoff—shared a seasonal boozy beverage that is worth making before the fall breeze hits. With simple steps and only six ingredients, here's how to make this quick watermelon cocktail. Jennifer Garner's Go-To Summer Mocktail Is Made with Only 2 Ingredients First, the base of the cocktail is fresh watermelon. After mashing up cubed watermelon with the back of a mallet—but any muddle instrument or blender could do the trick—in a cocktail shaker, the rest of the ingredients were added in. For "a little acid," Deschanel and Kung Minkoff added pineapple juice and lime. Then, the alcohol was splashed in. "I don't drink a lot of liquor, I usually drink wine," Deschanel admitted in the video when asked what her preferred choice of liquor was. "But if I were, I would say tequila, but I can't have much." After adding in a shot of liquor—it's completely customizable, so vodka, tequila or a light rum would work here—it's time for a bit of sweetness. Deschanel and Kung Minkoff included agave syrup in their own drink, but if you don't have that on hand, you can use simple syrup or honey for the same consistency and similar taste. Once these five ingredients are added to the cocktail shaker, there are only two steps left: shake and serve! Deschanel takes care of the shaking in the video, and Kung Minkoff helped set up the glasses for serving. The mixture was poured over ice in two glasses, and each cocktail was topped with coconut milk as well as mint and lime for garnish. And just like that, this easy, refreshing cocktail is ready to enjoy.
