About this product

Product Information

A port of the PlayStation 2 original, Burnout focuses on high-speed, reckless races through cities teeming with life. The objective is to race against and beat three computer-controlled cars with a vehicle of your choosing. The caveat, however, is that these races take place in cities populated with civilian vehicles simply going about their daily routine. Not only do competitors have to contend with one another, but they must also avoid crashing into the hundreds of cars scattered around each "track."<br><br>Dangerous maneuvers such as weaving in and out of oncoming traffic, speeding through busy intersections, or power sliding dangerously close to other vehicles are classified as "drifts" and "near-misses" and subsequently reward the player with an increment to their Boost Meter. When filled, this meter can be used to provide a momentary boost of speed, replete with blurring and camera effects to enhance the sense of speed.<br><br>Crashes are a common yet spectacular occurrence. Life-like crash and damage physics see cars roll, flip, and spin causing windows to shatter and metal to bend. Each crash is also assigned a monetary value depicting the amount of damage that was caused to all vehicles involved in the accident. At the conclusion of each race, the most impressive crashes can be reviewed, with players controlling the camera, zoom, and motion blur functions. While visually pleasing, these crashes impede your progress in the race and deplete your Boost Meter, and thus should be avoided at all costs. <br><br>Single-player modes include Time Attack, Single Race, and Championship, the last of which sees players competing on 14 courses across the U.S. and Europe. A Special mode also grants access to any secret modes that have been unlocked, including head-to-head matchups that provide the opportunity to race against a single CPU opponent. Once defeated, the opponent's car will be unlocked for future use. A Free Run mode can be unlocked that removes all pedestrian vehicles from the city, thus allowing racers to compete unhindered by gridlocked traffic. A two-player head-to-head mode allows players to race against one another in split-screen competition. The GameCube incarnation sports improved graphics, runs at 60 frames per second, and supports progressive scan.

Packaged well inside a custom-made sturdy cardboard sleeve inside a poly mailer. Arrived sealed and in new condition. Although there are some technical issues with the train that need repair, it is no fault whatsoever of the seller's, and they kindly responded to my message inquiring if they had any idea how to resolve the issue. Overall very happy with their service. Thank you!

    Disappointed but Satisfied

I was a little disappointed to find out that this game was a “Player’s Selects” version and not an original version, but it works and can be played. Also, the case was a little damaged, but I can get a new one.

  • "Burnout" reaches high heat

PERSONAL NOTES: The one thing that made this game great was the incredibly MAD speeds you drive your selected car through the long and twisting courses. When it comes to simulation racing, this game shines in the realism as you blaze down the highways and city streets so fast that you almost believe you're really doing that in real life - now THAT is what a sim is supposed to do! Another highlight is the many tracks you have to choose from. You'll race on a variety of interconnected courses that wind through highways, city streets (against TRAFFIC!), and back-country roads... even through ALL of them in a single race. So as you progress, you'll find that a once familiar course now branches off into a much longer and complicated path. Where this game falls short is the very limited camera ...

  • Burnout, The start of a Legacy

I am not a man who likes racing games, but a while ago before I had my Xbox 360, before my Xbox, I had my good old Gamecube. When I looked at the game I thought how cool it took my racing game dislike and destroyed it, how you may ask? By letting me destroy other cars! Back then the graphics were amazing, the damage done to you and the other cars was realistic as it got back then. This game was just the first in a line of (if you ask me) the best racing games EVER. Each game would somehow top its predecessor with insane new features, the first was CRASH, (the best game mode ever), takedown, aftertouch (another unique and original feature that would become standard in later series, and road rage. Although none of these appear in this game, it paved the way for them. Just think of it this ...

  • Great RENTAL Game

Burnout, Gamecube, haves all a good racing game needs to be greatly played, but something is still missing. A good 2-player mode and a nice graphics. A Good game for Rental, indeed. Controls: 3/5 Medium-quality controls that feel in the right way the Player's will, but a bit of balance would to the right part. Graphics: 5/5 One of the most beautiful racing games. The environment is totally well done and done at the highest quality possible. Sound/Music: 3/5 Good musics, but few even passes the racing feel. The general sounds are a bit lower. Gameplay: 4/5 The game idea was good, and the game makers managed to put it positively in the game disc. Replay: 1/5 Too Short game with 6 championships only. Score: 3/5 A great game but with low battery. It always make a good weekend rental.
