This "SHIMANO NEXAVE Tap-Fire Lever, ST-T400-S, 3-Finger, For Left Hand" shifter and brake lever combination is just what I was looking for to use on my beach cruiser moto-bike (less motor), with Shimano Nexus 3-speed Coaster Brake, and a rear long-reach caliper brake for back-up. The part has plenty of strong material and bulk; the shiny silver looks nicer than the all-black stuff they seem to sell these days. For a more elegant look - say on a ladies' 3-speed bicycle, I might go with the "Shimano EZ-Fire Plus Lever, ST-EF51-L-4A, 4-Finger, For Left Hand". A problem that I sometimes have with my projects is that the right/left levers do not always coincide with the rear/front brakes, but it seems that that does not matter much in my case.
