THIS IS AN OPEN AQUATIC SYSTEM

When kept in this type of open ecosystem the shrimp will not die off the first year or two like the closed systems in the market. These preferred shrimp have a lifespan of up to 20+ years. This shrimp EcoSphere can easily last over 20+ years.
Great for any novice aquarist, this fun and functional 6" open large ecosphere is made of high quality glass for durability and showcases your Opae Ula shrimp. You will receive the following.

1. Large: 6”H, 6”D, 6”, 1/2” opening, + plastic cover. This is not a closed system. Holds approximately a half gallon of water

2. Instructions on how to care for your Hawaiian Red Shrimp

3. Food supply of pure dried Spirulina. You will only have to feed 1-2x a week for the 1st month. After that the shrimp will feed on the algae & bio film that will become established in the sphere. Never have to feed again

5. CaribSea Aragonite sand

6. Brackish water. I will provide enough water for this sphere. Just add it in. Additional marine salt included.

Once the sphere is established and you have algae growing you do not need to feed anymore. This takes only 4 weeks.

What are Opae Ula?

· Opae Ula (Halocaridina rubra), also known as Hawaiian Shrimp, Volcano Shrimp, Red Shrimp, and many other names, are an endemic shrimp found in brackish water ponds.

Where do these shrimp live?

· The natural habitat of these critters is in the Hawaiian Islands only, which makes them endemic. They are found in anchialine ponds primarily on the Big Island, Maui, as well as O’ahu. These pools are a mix & saltwater from the ocean & freshwater from the underground lava tubes creating brackish water which is a mixture of both.

How big do these shrimp get?

· The Opae Ula doesn’t grow much larger than ½ inch.

I do not sell any shrimp here on Etsy as it is against their policy. It is the customer’s responsibility to research any items they are interested in. Incompatibility with tank mates should not be overlooked and is not my responsibility. Water quality and the correct diet will help with the long term health of the animals that will thrive in this sphere. Poor maintenance routines, poor water quality, and unhealthy diet is the responsibility of the hobbyist to correct.
This is one that does not require any maintenance after the initial set up other than topping off of the water around 2x a year.

It is the customer’s responsibility to check the tracking number for delivery. Tracking numbers are provided in order shipment notification emails.

It is the responsibility of the customer to provide us with the correct shipping information. We can not be held responsible for deliveries made to the address that was provided to us if that address was incorrect.

The shipment must be sent to the correct delivery address, and not forwarded to another address unless still delivered the same day. Forwarding of packages results in an extra day or more in transit.

Any extras that are sent are not covered under the guarantee.
