Artemis of Ephesus- Anatolian Goddess Statue

The goddess was originally before her cult was taken over by the Greeks, called "Artimus", and her temple - one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - received gifts from the Lydian king Croesus (c.560-c.547). She is related to other Anatolian mother goddesses, like Cybele. The Ephesians believed that Artemis was born in Ephesus (and not on Delos, as was commonly assumed), and accepted the shrine as an asylum. Later, the Persians patronized the cult; the high priest was called the "Megabyxus", a Persian name that means "the one set free for the cult of the divinity". The original cult statue was made of wood but was probably lost after the great fire of 356 BCE.

The statuette is outstanding! Having seen the original statue in the Selçuk Museum near Ephesus, and spent a long time examining every detail, I am amazed at how accurately and beautifully this copy has been created. Congratulations! Even the packaging showed how much the artist cared about doing it right. Well worth the price. The shipping was delayed over Christmas and the New Year, which caused some angst; but it was worth the wait. Thank you.

This is a magnificent statue of Artemis Ephesia, known as the Beautiful Artemis. The detail is fully realized and wonderfully executed. My only suggestion would be to use more styrofoam or bubble wrap around the figure to cushion it. It was apparent when I lifted the package that the statue moved.

The main problem I had was that the shipping was very cumbersome plus I had to pay tariffs that greatly increased the price. The transport company did not contact me to release the statue from customs, I had to manage everything since the statue arrived in Spain. Adem was very attentive and helped me in the process. I have no complaint about his treatment. In addition, the figure was well protected and arrived intact. The statue is beautiful and resistant to the weather, but it seems hollow, so I give it four stars, although after talking to Adem he confirmed that it is filled with polyurethane to lighten the weight, and the statue is resistant. My idea even knowing that it is marble powder, is that it would have been solid, since for the price I thought it was. The details are very well done and the replica is very good.

El principal problema que tuve fue que el envío fue muy engorroso además de que tuve que pagar aranceles que incrementaron mucho el precio. La compañía de transporte no se puso en contacto conmigo para liberar la estatua de la aduana, tuve que gestionar yo todo desde que la estatua llegó a España. Adem fue muy atento y me ayudó en el proceso. No tengo queja de su trato. Además la figura venía bien protegida y llegó intacta. La estatua es bonita y resistente a la intemperie, pero parece hueca, por eso le doy cuatro estrellas, aunque tras hablar con Adem el me confirmó que está rellena de poliuretano para aligerar el peso, y la estatua es resistente. Mi idea aún sabiendo que es de polvo de mármol, es que hubiera sido maciza, ya que por el precio pensaba que así era. Los detalles están muy bien hechos y la réplica es muy buena.
