This Quilt is a Yellow Multicolor YoYo Quilt- and it's better than fabulous. It measures 86x76 and is Vintage from the 1930s

Yo-Yo Quilts were most popular from the 1920s through the 1940s. Tiny circles of fabric were gathered up at the edges and sewed together to create a three-dimensional effect. Yo-yo quilts were popular for a number of reasons. Women could carry the little circles of fabric with them and make yo-yos whenever they had a free moment. Also, during the Great Depression, because they were made from small scraps of fabric, yo-yo quilts were more affordable to make and whatever fabric was on hand could be used.

Yo quilts are rare because they are very tedious. The quilter has to first cut the circles for each yo you, then hand baste the edge and pull them up into a yo yo. Then each one has to be hand stitched to the next one to end up with a quilt. It's amazing to me that anyone mades or makes them, and I'm fascinated and so appreciative of the work.

The colors were hard to photograph, Its a lovely yellow and not as gold as in the pictures.

This measures 86x76 and has a panel at the bottom to drop over the bed between the posts- a twin bed at best. They are also beautiful draped over the end of a bed, or at the head of the bed.

I have not laundered this and it has a slight odor, but can be dry cleaned or hand washed.

This quilt is in no way warm. There is no backing, it's a series of yo yo's sewn together, so it's definitely not one of the warm and cozy quilts that I so love. But what a feel it gives a room!
