Description

Our blue Guppy females are looking for their equal. This beautiful color variation of the really incredibly widespread species Poecilia reticulata from South America in aquaristics is a real eye-catcher. Guppies are also called million fish because they are very prolific and very robust - the perfect beginner fish. Guppies are a real classic in the aquarium hobby. Their reproductive joy is proverbial. Therefore, it is recommended to keep an all-male group or an all-female group to avoid offspring. Please note, however, that female Guppies can store sperm and may give birth to kittens even without a male

Our blue female guppies have a silvery body with the familiar so-called pregnancy spot on the belly end. Their fins are blue with black spots. Guppy females grow to about 9 inches long, which is significantly larger than males. Their anal fin is rounded, not pointed as in males.

Poecilia reticulata belongs to the live-bearing toothcarps, the females give birth to live young, up to 20 per litter. Although guppies eat their own young, in well planted aquariums enough baby fish still get through. If they reproduce too much, you should look for a recipient for the young fish or think about socializing them with fish that will take care of the young, such as small tetras. If you want to breed blue guppies - we offer male blue guppies here in the store, which go very well with these beautiful female guppies.

A socialization of Guppies with other small, rather peaceful aquarium fish is very well possible. Only with Endlern (Poecilia wingei) the Guppys hybridize, here one should refrain from a common attitude. Crayfish see guppies as food, especially because the pretty ornamental fish sleep on the bottom and thus become easy prey. With robust dwarf shrimps, with Amano shrimps or fan shrimps on the other hand, guppies can be kept well in the aquarium. However, young shrimp will probably be eaten if there are not enough hiding places for them.

Guppies have an upward pointing, so called overhead mouth. This shows their food preferences - they like to eat the biofilms and approach food from the water surface. But also algae and plant remains belong to their food in nature, besides insect larvae, worms and small crustaceans. In the aquarium they also like to pluck algae, they also like soft vegetables or scalded green food. Special guppy food is just as suitable as flake food or granulated food. We recommend the NatureHolic Guppyfeed. Guppies also do not say no to live food and frozen food .

Poecilia reticulata occurs in the natural biotopes of the fish in medium to hard water and also in the brackish water of estuaries. They also like soft to hard water in the aquarium. A water temperature of 22-28 °C in the aquarium is considered optimal for guppies.

Our food recommendation: The fragrant NatureHolic Guppyfeed  was tailor-made for the needs of guppies and other viviparous fish in the aquarium. In addition to high-quality animal ingredients, it also contains vegetable components that benefit guppies & co. The soft granules protect the sensitive mouth of the viviparous from injuries caused by hard food grains and provide the fish with a natural feeding experience.

Our plant recommendation: For planting, use NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.

Hallo Joy, vielen Dank fuer deine Frage! Manchmal packen wir noch einen Ballon dazu damit der Beutel stabil in der Box stehen bleibt, so schwappen die Tiere nicht umher.

Question: "Gibt es die Option die Tiere vor Ort abzuholen noch? Also vertig verpackt zum Mitnehmen? "
