Going bald may be a natural part of getting older but if it happens quickly, it also probably totally sucks. It's a source of anxiety for men the world over, causes guys to spend loads of money on myriad "solutions", and can even threaten their livelihood. But not so much for Alexander Skarsgard who just went bald for his next role—turns out baldness isn't as bad when it's reversible. The six-foot-four actor has maybe never not looked good on a red carpet. So we audibly gasped when he showed up last night to Louis Vuitton's Volez, Voguez, Voyagez exhibition in New York with an impressive (not in a good way) case of self-imposed male pattern baldness. The meticulous buzz cut left Skarsgard with a classic bald-guy donut, his dirty-blond hair reaching from the back of one ear to the other.
Few men get the chance to go bald and go back, unless they're actors or dressing up as Homer Simpson for Halloween. And usually actors (a population you might call vain) stay out of the spotlight whilst enduring a not so stylish grooming move for a role. So we're pretty into Skarsgard's good-natured reveal, even if it is a massive f*ck you to men who are actually bald not to mention the way he left a few millimeters of stubble as proof that the look is temporary. It's proof that there is an upside to owning your most embarrassing haircuts. Because once his hair grows back to normal, or he buzzes off the rest, Skarsgard's masculinity quotient will soar higher than ever before. We're not saying you should intentionally go bald just so you'll look hotter later by comparison, but you could consider going as George Costanza this Halloween.
