Gotthold Ephraim Lessing ( 1729–1781 ), one of the most prominent philosophers of the Enlightenment era, recognised as the world's first dramaturg Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture, and applied art, especially the decorative arts, known in different languages by different names: Jugendstil in German, Stile Liberty in Italian, Modernisme català in Catalan, etc. In English it is also known as the Modern Style. The style was most popular between 1890 and 1910 during the Belle Époque period that ended with the start of World War I in 1914. Berlin, Germany - December 18, 2019: Monument to Gotthold Ephraim Lessing in Tiergarten park. The monument by sculptor Otto Lessing was unveiled on October 14, 1890. Tiergarten is Berlin’s most popular inner-city public park. Access to the park is free.
Vienna, Austria - December 9, 2016: Gotthold Ephraim Lessing monument on the Judenplatz square. The original monument by Siegfried Charoux was completed in 1931-1932, unveiled in 1935 and removed and melted in 1939 by the National Socialists. The present monument was created by Siegfried Charoux in 1962-1965, unveiled on Ruprechtsplatz in 1968 and moved to Judenplatz in 1981.
