Feather Duster Worm - Sabellastarte indica Sabellidae (feather duster worms) are sedentary marine polychaete tube worms where the head is mostly concealed by feathery branchiae. They build tubes out of parchment, sand, and bits of shell. Glomerula secretes a tube of calcium carbonate. They tend to be common in the intertidal zones around the world. Sabellastarte spp. can be up to 7 cm (2 3/4 in.). White horseshoe-shaped crown with brown markings. It extends from parchment-like tube embedded in substrate.<br />

  2. According to ITIS Sabellastarte indica is the accepted name, but in Wikipedia the respective page is created for the synonym Sabellastarte spectabilis. The other synonyms are: S. indica and S. spectabilis. Posted 7 years ago
