Huskers defensive lineman Nash Hutmacher made his debut for the school's wrestling team on January 6 vs. Wyoming at heavyweight, pinning Mason Ding in 2:07.
He notched another victory on Sunday against Purdue.
The Polar Bear dropped 45 pounds since the end of football season in preparation for his return to the mat.
"I've just been having a blast with it. It's been so much fun getting to know the guys in the room, getting to be a part of this awesome program," he told KETV.
Hutmacher wrestled in high school, finishing a perfect 166-0 in high school and becoming the first four-time heavyweight state champion in South Dakota.
"Nash has a lot of courage and we love it," said Nebraska wrestling head coach Mark Manning.
At every match, his football teammates and coaches pack the Bob Devaney Center to cheer him on.
"We got to, man," said Nebraska football defensive line coach Terrance Knighton.
"We just enjoy watching him compete and he's a leader in the room and we're just here to support."
When asked why he's embarking on this new journey, Hutmacher responded, "I'm doing it because I think it's going to make me the best athlete I can be."
