LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Sulphur man is facing sex abuse charges after child porn was allegedly found on his Snapchat account, authorities said.

Charles B. Schrumpf II, 22, was arrested April 18, on 22 counts of possession of child pornography. He bonded out later the same day on a $300,000 bond.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit received a tip in July 2023 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to child sexual abuse material saved to a Snapchat account, according to Kayla Vincent, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

More than 20 child sex abuse videos and images were found on an account associated with Schrumpf, Vincent said.

After further investigation and the execution of numerous search warrants and subpoenas, in March 2024, Judge Tony Fazzio signed a warrant for Schrumpf’s arrest, she said.

Schrumpf was arrested April 18 in Ruston and booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center before being transported back to the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

CPSO Special Victims Unit Detective Eric Perry is the lead investigator.

Homeland Security Investigations and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, were also part of the investigation.
