Commendable for the detail behind the game and one for stats nerds certainly, but I found the actual gameplay to be a jerky and boring, with hopeless AI.

Playing this one in 2021!

Nice game. Probably my second favourite football game, after Matchday 2 (I don't like overhead arcade ones like Microprose Soccer).

The tatics section is quite OK with the real teams and some nice options. The arcade section is challenging. It's very hard to score a goal, specially inside the penalty area the goalkeepers are unbeatable. The trick seems to be the aftertouch "curve effect" in the shots, which is difficult to master.

Quite an improvement to its official predecessor. Unofficially, it is more a successor to the first Kick Off on the Commie, which was quite good despite its appalling look. Which brings us to the major flaw of this offering: Since 1988 myriads of overhead footy sims have been released, covering all quality ranges. This one is - without doubt - is one of the best, but there's absolutely nothing that would be new. To its credit, you could say it combines the best of other footy sims.

It's quite pleasing to see that by 1991 foul play, free kicks and so on have become standards, and it works well enough here. We also get loads of European opponents with varying strengths, and actually pretty good gameplay. The game takes advantage of what has been pioneered by the first Kick Off on the Commie, namely that a vertically scrolling pitch is actually closer to the real world than a horizontal one. The manager part is just a bit of tactics, not really a management simulation.

That being said, it has all been done before. In 1987 an offering like this would have been sensational, in 1988 a strong contender, in 1989 a welcome addition, but in 1991? Still, easily 7/10.

Not bad at all, a little bit slow to play and diffucult in my taste, passes aren't that good.. But is still an exciting little soccer game for C64.

Excellent football action with a heap of options and lovely touches, I was stuck on this for ages.

To my mind, this is one of the best football sims around. Combining a manager section along with the arcade bit, it contains an enormous number of teams to select from, as well as 3 European cups for you to compete in. More realistic than Microprose Soccer, it's simply one of the best C64 soccer games.
