This past weekend, GHA employees rolled up their sleeves and joined forces with Friends of the Chicago River, contributing to their Chicago River Day efforts. Their hard work helped clean and revitalize the Chicago-Calumet River system. We're thrilled to highlight the Ruth Barn Relocation Project, coordinated by GHA in partnership with the Village Of Long Grove. This project involved carefully relocating the historic Ruth Barn across a regulated wetland area to a new location adjacent to the one-room Archer School. The relocation not only preserved the barn's historical significance but also facilitates the expansion of the Long Grove Village Hall. Careful planning ensured minimal environmental impact throughout the process. The success of the Ruth Barn Relocation Project is a testament to GHA's comprehensive approach. We are proud to highlight our role in the "Welcome Projects" at the Chicago Botanic Garden where our civil engineering expertise facilitated significant enhancements to enrich visitor experiences. Key elements of our work included assistance in developing a detailed plan for the Welcome Plaza which ensures traffic-free pedestrian accessibility while also maintaining emergency vehicles access, the introduction of the Stone Family Picnic Glade in a beautiful lakeside setting, and facilitating the introduction of a new walkway, which now links the Welcome Plaza with the Stone Family Picnic Glade and improves access to parking areas, enhancing overall pedestrian connectivity. All of the improvements were undertaken within, or adjacent to, the floodplain/floodway which required rigorous permitting approvals at the County and State levels. GHA's thoughtful approach to this project ensured the revitalized Welcome Plaza, the new walkway, and the Stone Family Picnic Glade seamlessly integrate with the Garden's natural beauty while adhering to essential floodplain and floodway requirements. This reflects our commitment to delivering engineering solutions that enhance functionality, aesthetics, and the overall visitor experience.
