5 Reasons Employers and Workers must avert their mind and consider International Labour Organisations Conventions, treaties and Recommendations seriously in treating labour and employment issues in the workplace. 1. International Labour standards are legal instruments drawn up by the governments, employers and workers. 2. They set out basic principles and rights at work. 3. Conventions or Protocols or Treaties are legally binding if ratified by a national government. 4. Recommendations are non binding guidelines but can supplement a convention by providing more details on how a treaty or convention must be applied. 5. They are recognised by International Labour Organisation and Industrial Courts including the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. © Adebayo Adekola, 2023 Labour Laws Review TAITUM Taitum Legacy Services #Taitumfamily #tenancy #property

IMPACT OF FAILURE TO CONDUCT INVESTIGATION UNDER LABOUR LAWS IN TANZANIA According to s. 37 (1) and (2) of the Employment and Labour Relations Act, Chapter 366 of the Revised Laws, termination of an employee is fair if it is based on fair reason and done in accordance with a fair procedure. Investigation must be conducted to ascertain whether there are sufficient grounds to hold a disciplinary hearing and investigation must precede the disciplinary hearing. That serves two main purposes; to ascertain the existence of the grounds for commencing a disciplinary hearing against an employee and to enable the employee to make a defense on the basis of the investigation report. Failure to carry out the investigation hence a breach of the mandatory provisions of rule 13 (1) of the Code of Good Practice, that violation denied the employee the opportunity to have the report thereof for making his informed defense. What is your thought? #LuleUpdate #LabourLaw
