Jorunna funebris, dotted or Panda nudibranch. This species contains a chemical compound called "jorumycin," which shares the same tetrahydroisoquinoline backbone as an anti-tumor drug called Zalypsis, or PM00104. In addition, another compound called jorunnamycin A, has been found alongside fennebricins A (1) and B (5), both of which are bis-tetrahydroisoquinolinequinones and related to two classes of anti-tumor alkaloids. Photo taken in Bondalem, probably the best coral, and a good muck dive site in North Bali. 8 m deep. 1/160, F22, Nikon Z8, Nauticam housing, #uwphotography #uwphoto #uwindonesia #divingindonesia #macrophotography #oceangardener #diveindonesia #indounderwater #divephotoguide #coral Ocean Gardener

Taenianotus triacanthus, the leaf scorpion fish, is a classic. Always found around glassfish, small cardinalfish-covered boulders. Found usually in white, brown, black, yellow, and sometimes pink. The pink ones are rare in Bali, so they are always a treat! We found many in Bondalem, probably the best coral, and a good muck dive site in North Bali. 12 m deep. 1/160, F22, Nikon Z8, Nautican housing, #uwphotography #uwphoto #uwindonesia #divingindonesia #macrophotography #oceangardener #diveindonesia #indounderwater #divephotoguide #coral

A few close-ups of my favorite corals: Acropora! Just surfaced from an epic sabbatical in Bali, and guess what? I wasn't just sipping coconuts on the beach (though there was a bit of that 😉). I dove headfirst into coral reef restoration, getting up close with the vibrant yet vulnerable undersea world. 🐠 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥: Our coral reefs are under siege, not just from rising temperatures that lead directly to coral bleaching, but also from the conditions that foster toxic algae blooms. These unwelcome guests starve corals of sunlight, turning them ghostly white. But armed with knowledge and a bit of elbow grease, we can fight back. I spent my days mastering coral gardening—from nursery setups to fighting the algae frontline, each coral saved felt like a win for the planet. Also, I've had enriching conversations with locals and experts alike, uncovering a sea of opportunities for sustainable innovation and investments that can regenerate our oceans, not just profit from them. 🌍💼 Got an idea that could make waves in ocean conservation? Let's chat. 📈🤝 We're at a pivotal moment where collaboration between startups, investors, and conservationists can lead to groundbreaking solutions for our oceans' health. We love our rope technique so much, that we experiment with it and with any other coral than branching Acroporidae. Here you can find the result of 1 year of growth of one of our experiments using table Acropora. Still far from successful, their growth is slower, and we will find out in a year or two if they can anchor themselves. But the results look promising, and these corals are a key component of shallow, exposed reefs. Please note that all fragments are coming from our shallow, heat-resistant nursery. Paracheilinus flavianalis is a classic Flasher wrasse in Bali. However, finding a large one flashing and taking a picture of it can be challenging. This was taken in Northeast Bali, in a calm, protected bay 20 m deep, in a field of Anacropora sp hard coral and Sarcophyton sp soft coral. #uwphotography #uwphoto #uwindonesia #divingindonesia #macrophotography #oceangardener #diveindonesia #indounderwater #divephotoguide #coral @ocean_gardener @tritonreef @indounderwater.id @wetpixelgram @scubadivingmag @scubadiverlife @divemag @ssi_international @padiaware @paditv @uwphotographyguide @uwphoto.addict @magazine_plongez @divetravelindonesia @asiandivers @underwateruncensored
