Discover the Samtgemeinde (joint communities) of Salzhausen in the North Heath. Enjoy your holiday, from the first hour, in a liveable region.

Versatile, diverse, and full of surprises, the villages, the countryside, the sights and the leisure activities together form a wonderful holiday.

Salzhausen, with its member communities, will offer you an interesting stay. There is variety of private guesthouses, holiday apartments, holiday homes and hotels, as well as excellent food.

Salzhausen is a 1000-year-old Heath village with an ideal location south of Hamburg and its proximity to the salt city of Lüneburg. The natural landscape with forests, meadows and fields, crossed by the Luhe river offer walking, cycling and paddling. Tennis can be played on outdoor courts or in a hall. A heated outdoor pool offers wonderful relaxation. Around St. Johannis Church there are shops, ice cream parlours, beer gardens and restaurants that invite you to shop and linger. On Fridays there is a weekly market with regional products. Regular cultural events take place in the Dörpschün (half-timbered barn from 1778). The smallest museum in Germany (wooden fire-brigade tower from 1902) and Eyendorfer Windmill (1897) are some of our attractions.

Booking a local guide is possible.

The Sculpture Park on Paaschberg is worth a visit. The highlight of the Sculpture Park is the 17 m high observation tower. From here you have a wonderful view of the entire Luhetal.

Visit the equestrian paradise of Luhmühlen. Every year the famous 4 **** event tournament takes place there.

During the summer season, three bus routes operate around the Nature Reserve, the so-called "Heide-Shuttle". These buses will take you (and your bike) comfortably and free to traditional Heath locations.

Salzhausen is the perfect starting point for many interesting things to do. You are very welcome! We are looking forward to your visit.
