Lynyrd Skynyrd will return to Bethlehem next year for Musikfest.

Festival officials announced Tuesday that the classic rock band will perform Aug. 7 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza. The band performed at the festival in 2010 and 2000. It also played last year at PPL Center in Allentown.

Tickets go on sale for ArtsQuest members at noon Wednesday and will go on sale for the general public at 10 a.m. Friday. Tickets, which range in price from $35 to $109, can be purchased at Musikfest.org.

The band, known for songs such as “Free Bird” and “Sweet Home Alabama” is touring and has performances scheduled through September.

This is the third headliner announcement for the festival over the last few weeks. Two weeks ago, festival organizers announced rapper and actor Ludacris as a headliner. He will perform Aug. 10 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage. He last performed at the festival in 2007.

Last week, country music act Old Dominion was announced as the second headliner. It will perform Aug. 6 on the Wind Creek Steel Stage. It will be the band’s first time at Musikfest. They last performed in Bethlehem in 2017.

This past Musikfest, its 40th year, saw its highest attendance. It had a record attendance of 1.3 million people during the 10-day festival, which takes place the first week of August in both the North and South Sides of the city. The previous record attendance of 1.24 million was set in 2022.

The 2024 festival runs Aug. 2-11.
