Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Fighter Wing Staff Agencies chose Airman 1st Class Teante Cain, contracting specialist, as its Wild Weasel of the Week.

What's your daily mission?
To deliver agile, effective and compliant contracting solutions enabling the joint and bi-lateral mission of the 35th Fighter Wing. We support every aspect, from aircraft maintenance to the Child Development Center, as well as many of the tenant units on base. We also administer the base telecommunication systems and personal wireless communications systems contracts, as well as support resiliency through intramural sports and chapel service contracts.

What do you enjoy about your job?
The people. I work alongside great mentors with years of knowledge and experience. I learn something new every day and seize every opportunity I get to pick at their brains. I also enjoy being able to interact with the different squadrons here at Misawa.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
First, several of my family members were in the military. Most of them were Marines, and their service had a huge influence on me joining. Additional reasons would be education and experience. I knew the military would provide me the opportunity to go to school and I also knew I would travel, gain a lot of new experiences and meet a lot of new people.

What is your favorite thing about being in Japan?
The best thing about being in Japan is just the experience in itself. I love the food and I get to experience a completely different culture.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her:?
My grandfather -- John Holliday. He has definitely inspired me to be a better person and has taught me a lot about responsibility. The biggest thing I've learned from him is to be proactive. He also taught me to set goals for myself and to develop a plan to execute those goals.

Time in Misawa: 7 months

Time in military: 11 months

Goals you want to achieve or meet while in Misawa?
I would like to travel more and see the rest of Japan, along with learning the Japanese language.

Supervisor's remarks:
"Airman Cain has been a wonderful addition to the contracting family at Misawa. He inspires everyone that he comes in contact with to be a better person, whether officer or enlisted, Airmen or NCO. He's driven to not only learn his career field but to excel at it. He is always the first to volunteer for a task and never complains about any work that comes his way. I am excited to see how he develops in the future because he is off to an amazing start already." - Tech. Sgt. Sara Chesser, 35 CONS
