As we’ve seen previously, the latest World of Warcraft expansion, Legion, is full of obscure secrets that players are still working to uncover. This week, one sharp-eyed player found something hidden in one of the least expected spots.

Posting on the World of Warcraft subreddit, user Nexeoes detailed the steps to unlock a new, super-difficult five-man boss waiting in the depths of the Gnomeregan dungeon. For those unfamiliar with Blizzard’s hit MMO, Gnomeregan is one of the earliest dungeons included way back in the original launch of the game in 2004.

To unlock the new boss, players must enter Gnomeregan and make their way to the final boss of the dungeon, a gnome in a robot suit named Mekgineer Thermaplugg. However, players must not actually kill the boss. Instead, there’s a pillar near the boss that has a button labeled “PUSH ME.” Hitting that will summon the new boss, who will destroy Mekgineer Thermaplugg and take his place.

That new boss has the incredible name of Endgineer Omegaplugg. He has 270 million health and a whole suite of attacks that do an absurd amount of damage — enough to kill most player characters in one hit. Nexeoes warns that your group will need to be “EXTREMELY geared” if you hope to take on this challenge.

For those who are able to brave the Endgineer Omegaplugg challenge and come out on the other side, the boss will drop a special toy that transforms players into a leper gnome. Fun!

In some ways, it’s very fitting that one of Legion’s biggest challenges is tucked away inside Gnomeregan. While we haven’t had a good reason to hang out there since the instance was revamped as part of 2010’s Cataclysm expansion, long-time players will remember Gnomeregan as one of the first extremely challenging dungeons in the original one to 60 leveling process. It was doable around level 25 but was the first hint of what group encounters would expect of you at endgame.
