Characteristics of Hydrocotyle Leucocephala
Hydrocotyle Leucocephala, is native to wet and swampy areas in Central and South America. It is very easy to grow, making it an optimal aquarium plant that has been in the hobby for a long time.
Hydrocotyle Leucocephala leaves are rounded and grow on a tendril-shaped stem. This is one of the easiest aquarium plants and can be recommended to beginners without a doubt. It works well in almost all water parameters and does not have high lighting requirements and CO2 concentration. Even high temperatures are not a problem.
However, if its leaves turning yellow at the edges are a sure sign of iron deficiency, it can be easily remedied by adding an iron fertilizer to the water. Although it works well in conditions that are not very good, it shows its full potential under enough light, CO2 injection, and a good supply of nutrients. It can also be grown emerged; In its emerged form it grows especially strong and produces a large number of shoots from which you can make cuttings.
Propagation is easy as the plant sheds many side shoots that can simply be cut and replanted in the substrate.
Hydrocotyle Leucocephala is a highly versatile plant that lends itself easily to accentuate floating or middle wood plants due to its tendril-like growth. It can also be used as a vertical or floating growing stem plant. It goes well with almost any other plant, it is a particularly good companion plant for Anubias species as it has comparable requirements and contrasts nicely with its dark green tones.
