A solitary cactus that forms a small, rounded, well armed stem and purplish pink flowers followed by bright red fruits that develop from a curious, bristly, mound-like structure called a cephalium. Melocactus curvispinus is widely distributed on rocky outcrops at low elevations from Mexico and the Caribbean to southern Peru. A cactus that does well in tropical climates. This rare form has a green and yellow variegated stem.
