Info
Pentapodus porosus has a torpedo-shaped body, a blue head with two yellow stripes on the mouth in front of the eye, the second passes through the eye, and then widens to the base of the tail above the diffuse dark side stripe, where it becomes iridescent and wraps around a small black spot.
A blue stripe runs along the back below the dorsal fin and a diagonal yellow stripe on the cheek below the eye.
Juvenile snappers show a thin yellow, black, grey and white stripe along the body side.
Pentapodus porosus differs from Pentapodus paradiseus (Paradise Threadfin Bream), which is found in the northeast of Australia, and Pentapodus setosus, from Southeast Asia, mainly by the location of occurrence.
Habitat: Pentapodus porosus occurs in coastal coral reefs as a single animal or in small groups.
Synonyms:
Maenoides aurofrenatus Richardson, 1843
Pentapus porosus Valenciennes, 1830
