Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Mycedium umbra are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Mycedium umbra, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Mycedium umbra, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

The present species has a distinctive colouration, tends to be more convoluted, has more widely spaced corallites and has costal ridges extending outward from the edges of corallites. Costal spines are less prominent. See taxonomic note.
