Arizona Cardinals comeback bid falls short in loss to Chicago Bears

The Arizona Cardinals really are not a good team, but what makes it more frustrating than that, is that the lack of talent was not the reason for the loss.

Instead, it was a terrible first 25 minutes of the game and from that the Cardinals were unable to make enough plays on offense to come all the way back.

In the end the Chicago Bears beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-16.

Cole Kmet barely got through a half and still put up over 100 yards receiving and the Bears rushing game was dominant behind Justin Fields.

On the flip side, the Cardinals got something out of James Conner, Kyler Murray did a nice job, but it wasn’t until late in the fourth quarter that someone stepped up and made a play, as Greg Dortch took a short crosser and made a bevy of Bears miss to get into the endzone.

Then the new analytics kicked in, the Cardinals went for two, didn’t get it and it was academic.

They had a chance, but the lack of outside wide receiver talent really reared its ugly head again, and the Bears took a turnover on downs a short way for a game sealing field goal.

The big takeaway:

The Cardinals need help along the defensive front seven, at cornerback, and at wide receiver. Luckily they have cap space and draft picks to address those issues.

Unless they move on from the quarterback in which case they cut their rebuild legs out from under themselves.
