Harold Densberger

Harold James Densberger “Jim” 83 of Schertz Tx passed away suddenly on December 7, 2022. He was born in Danville PA in 1939. He is preceded in death by Connie, the love of his life for 60 years and granddaughter Madison. He leaves behind 3 sons, Keith, Jim, Jeff and a daughter Tina. He was a strong and caring patriarch and beloved Papa to 14 grandkids and 19 great-grandkids.

In 1956 Jim married Connie and enlisted in the Air Force. In 1961 while stationed at Shaw AFB S. Carolina, he helped the IRS develop their initial Tax Return software. After several assignments, he arrived at HQ AFMPC, Randolph AFB TX in 1974 as a Chief-select. There he built the new Personnel Data System-Civilian as NCOIC, Civilian Systems. He retired from the Air Force in 1980 as a Chief Master Sergeant. The next day he went to work in Civil Service as Chief of the Field Systems Division. He became the DOD Program Manager for the Defense Personnel Data Systems as well as Technical Director. His responsibilities included $800 million life-cycle programs that provided personnel data and management support across DOD and over 90 non-DOD Federal agencies. He retired after 20 years in civil service. After retiring from Civil Service Jim worked as a Business Development Executive for Lockheed Martin where he played a key role in the growth of business for Lockheed. For several years he worked for DTSI and leveraged his DOD and professional experience to serve as a trusted advisor to DTSI. He was instrumental in shaping their business development strategies throughout his tenure. Jim received many awards over the years for his accomplishments, Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, GSA Trail Boss Special Recognition Award and many other medals and awards.

Although he was dedicated to his work, Jim had a love for golf and gambling. On weekends he played in a “gaggle” of 12-20 friends that began in 1984. Almost nothing (freezing temp, wind or sleet) interfered with that play. In 1991 with a few other military, civilian and vendor friends, he founded the “Duckbutter” tournament in Vegas, named after a Painted Desert Par3 hole with the approach covered in duck droppings. The tournament was played twice a yearon various Las Vegas courses. Over the past 30 years almost a hundred people have participated in these tournaments. Jim also loved the Crap table, he would often spend hours standing at the table after a long day of golf taking the casinos money. He has played in Casinos all over the world and has even been at the table with George Burns, Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman.

Jim was a remarkable and cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Memorial service will be held at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, TX on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2 pm. Private service at Ft Sam Cemetery on January 9, 2023.
