Apolemichthys trimaculatus
Apolemichthys trimaculatus (Cuvier 1831), the Three-Spot Angelfish. Can make a hardy addition to a good size (100 gallons plus) established reef system.Full size angels should not be mixed with other full size angels, unless it is in a tank of at least 180 gallons. A beautiful Angel, the Flagfin Angel is definitely one of the Aquarists favorites. Although this Angel is not known as an easy species to keep, many have been successfully kept with the right kind of care. The Flagfin is a good candidate to mix with other Angels in larger aquaria as well as placed in a community type aquarium. |
Maximum Size: the Apolemichthys trimaculatus grows up to 10 inches. Minimum Tank Size: The Flagfin Angel prefers a tank of at least 100 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Apolemichthys trimaculatus is a omnivore and likes to eat marine algae, mysid shrimp, Spirulina, sponges, and other meaty treats. Level of Care: The Flagfin Angel is a medium maintenance fish. Behavior: The Flagfin Angel may act difficultly toward other fish. Hardiness: This is not a hardy fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F). Range: Samoa to the east Coast of Africa, including the Indo-Australian Archipelago. |
