More than 700 Nashville residents submitted name recommendations for the city's new bike lane sweeper.

With more than 3,800 votes, Nashville's miniature bikeways sweeper has a name — Demonbroomin.

The sweeper is a part of Metro's ongoing effort to make Nashville streets more bike-friendly. NDOT hopes to launch the bike sweeper program later this month.

The machine, with its bright yellow mustache-like brushes, captured the hearts of residents on social media and soon a call went out to create a naming contest.

The Nashville Department of Transportation delivered.

In May, the department opened up a submission process. More than 700 people submitted names. From Taylor Swept, Sweeper McSweepface, 3-Sweepio to Trashlorette, the city narrowed down options to just four.

With just five days to vote, residents had JoClean, Demonbroomin, Patsy Clean and hub Litter Bug to choose from.

Demonbroomin, a play on Demonbreun Street, was the clear frontrunner with more than 41% of the vote. JoClean came in second with about 29%, followed by Patsy Clean (26%) and hub Litter Big pulling up the rear (4%).
