Daniel Sturridge finally involved in Perth Glory goal after six months at club but is taken off at half-time of draw
FORMER Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has finally made a mark in Australia - bagging his first goal contribution since joining.
Sturridge joined A-League side Perth Glory in October, but had failed to register a goal or assist before setting up Bruno Fornaroli's 18th-minute strike.
However, this assist in the 1-1 draw with Western Sydney is not set to save him from the chop at the end of the season.
Perth sit eight points adrift at the bottom of the table, and in the case of 32-year-old Sturridge there isn't much room for a player who is constantly unavailable due to injury.
Before the game this Saturday, Sturridge had only played 93 minutes of football all season.
Chief executive Tony Pignata has already revealed the Aussie side do not intend to renew his contract.

He said: "It has been disappointing. We had high hopes when we signed Daniel, but it hasn't worked.
"Unfortunately he got injured against Macarthur. He is training, and there's the potential he could play some minutes this week and finish off the season.
"I doubt that we'll offer him another contract."
Sturridge appeared 26 times for the England national team, bagging eight goals between his debut in 2011 and his last appearance in 2017.

He also played a key part in Liverpool's title charge in 2013/14, scoring 22 goals and getting nine assists while partnering Luis Suarez up front as Liverpool slipped up at the end of the season.
Injuries stalled what looked set to be a promising career for him, hopping around a few clubs to try and re-start it.
